I may have it figured out. Definitely Bully Dog related. Testing now.

Can I use a regular gap tool to gap the plugs?

I'm assuming the two are related?

Yessir! It's funny, people will spend money to go faster but not even think about how to stop quicker. For what it's worth, I use StopTech rotors, Hawk LTS pads, and Motul RBF600 brake fluid. I realize people might believe that this is overkill, but I don't give a damn. Every component has been a huge upgrade over stock and worth every penny.

tl; dr version: Read the included Bully Dog instruction leaflet page slipped into the Magnuson install manual, not the ones on Bully Dog's website.

    ----

On the Bully Dog under vehicle selection it has two choices for my truck. "Tacoma 2010-2014" and "Tacoma 2010-2014 SC". Originally I was scrolling down and just selected the first one. I didn't scroll down far enough to see the second one.

The instruction book that comes with the supercharger has a separate page slipped into the middle of the Magnuson supercharger install guide about Bully Dog setup. I never opened the package because I had the downloaded copy from Magnuson's site.

When setting up the BD, I used the instructions in the BD website. Had I read the Magnuson version it would have eliminated a lot of confusion.

The confusing part is that if you select the one without the "SC" it still gives you the 2.85 pulley tune as an option. Mine ran ok on the non-SC version, but the truck acted pretty crazy at anything close WOT. After selecting SC everything is working as I expected.

Are you using normal style rotors or slotted ones?

As long as you're not prying against the center elctrode most gap tools are fine. This is the style I've been using for years. They work great:

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002YKMCDW

FYI, The included plugs are pre-gapped style. It says on the box that they're factory gapped at 0.4mm. Magnuson says they need to be 0.8mm. I checked them all and they were all at 0.7mm. I'm not sure if Magnuson pre-gapped them for us or what. If they did, they're a little in the tight side.

I put on EBC yellowstuff pads and GP5 slotted and dimpled rotors and I can say I am a big fan. They soak off the speed super smooth and the further you press the pedal the more they keep braking, seemingly without limit compared to stock. Both together are part number EBC S5KF1347 and should be somewhere around $280-320.

Car and Driver did a pretty good review comparing yellow stuff pads to the hawk equivalent with graphs showing brake fade, brake pressure, and stopping distance after repeated runs. The EBC's are the most consistent in all categories.

Those and some SS lines and you'll be quite happy, I know I am.

Brakes are next. Safety first is what I'll tell my SO. Must have power to stop the power.

Stoptech 6 piston calipers sitting on the garage floor. Just ran out of time juggling work and family.

You can't run 16" rims with those though, can you?
