I've noticed lately that when I'm driving at normal speeds, 25-30mph, and step on the brakes after a second or two the truck make an audible thump noise. I can feel it through the pedal. The truck stops and it doesn't seem to affect braking but should I be concerned?

I've checked the ODBII and its not giving me any codes.

im not sure if we have the same thing but I am already at 20K and I feel some vibration on the pedal while stepping on the brakes at freeway speeds. My 2014 honda accord used to do it every 10,000 miles and honda would always need to clean my rotors.

I started feeling it at 19K but I was on a roadtrip to Norcal and back. On my 20K service yesterday, Toyota said that one of my front brakes needed new pads and rotors resurfaced. It's luckily covered under warranty for now although it is supposedly a consumable/wear and tear item. I am going back on thursday as they needed to special order the parts.

Partly, its probably because I ride the brakes too much but it could also be poor quality from toyota. Not really inconvenienced about it, just glad that its still covered under warranty.

Before coming to a stop, put your truck in neutral, about 15 to 20 mph. Pull your E-brake up. Hold the button in so it will not lock your rear brakes . You will feel the same rumble feeling. I think the rear drums are not round. When I go for my 5,000 service I'll have them check it out. TSB done about 1,500. R to F had delay. 1qt. low of tranmission fluid. Check it myself.

Sounds like axle wrap to me. Search the term for symptoms.

It's another joy promoted by the notoriously weak Tacoma springs.

Sure, it could be something else, but it's worth considering. As for using the ebrake w/o locking it, same thing as applying the brake.
