Alright. Looks like I have some homework to do.

Should I be concerned my mileage is so low?

If I drove 55-60mph, it would get WAY better MPG. But I prefer 75MPH

I had a 12 foot enclosed trailer with about 1800-2000lbs of cargo plus the weight of the trailer and I will say that it wasn't enjoyable. The trip was about 1200 miles each way and when it was loaded it would barely keep a steady speed. Didn't matter if it was 40mpj,50 mph or even 65 mph. It stayed in 4th and 5th the whole time.
I had the ect button on and I know they aren't the best tow vehicle but I still should have been able to keep a 40mph speed. It's not an easy vehicle to drive since your always fighting with it to stay at decent speed.

On the trip back unloaded it did drive much better but still not great but I do understand the trailer is like pulling a shoebox.

Really makes me wish I got the 6 speed manual.

Anyone tow a bass boat? I plan on buying one by next summer.

Also how do you know if the ECT button is on? Mine doesn't look any different if I press it in or not and it also doesn't light up... doesn't show on my dash panel. How can I tell? By rpms?

I'll apologize ahead of time for this comment, but pushing the truck to 70-80 MPH is not going to give a truck (in particular) good mileage. And with a trailer in tow?
    C'mon.

I pull a 4,250 lb TT. Brought back from winterizing yesterday, 75 miles from dealer, rolling hills and wind. At 60mph I get 15 to 18 mph. That's pretty normal for me. Trailer tires usually have only a 60 -65 mph rating. I'm at 2500 rpm in 4th w/o Ect on.

I would trade for the manual but I think I would have to take quite a loss on it. I want the manual really bad but not if i have to put myself in more debt. I feel like I would have to take a big loss.

Maybe if I keep it so it is a year old and then see about a trade.

Ugh I never thought a transmission would cause me to dislike it this much

Depends on where I'm going, usually only 55 to 60. I tend to drive very careful when my little girls ponies are in the trailer.

People under estimate how tranny can suck the joy out of a car. I wanted a luxury car a few years ago. Talked myself into japanese and bought a LS600hL. Wow talk about soul sucking misery. Traded in a WRX 6mt. Don't want STi with ring land issues. You should have seen the Subie dealers face on that trade in 125K car traded in a measly 29K car. But I needed the tranny back.

Good thing with Tacos is the incredible high residual/resale value.

    Good luck.

You have very good points. Iv owned a few turbo subarus so o know the ring land issue. And I got rid of my horrible 2015 Sierra for this Tacoma since the Sierra was horrible for issues.

I love the Tacoma but your right. The transmission takes all the fun out of it.

Life is too short to live with bad decisions.

I hope whatever you decide, you enjoy your truck :)

    Thank you.

I will pray they come out with another tsb or that I will just put up with it.

I may go talk with the dealership and see what they would offer.

So you have an lx570, '17 pro, and and 2 ducatis? Man I wish I was you haha.

On a side note, what model ducatis do you have? I had an 02 ducati monster 750 dark. Bike was a blast to ride but maintenance was just too much.
