First post! So I got my 2016 about 6 months ago and the day I got it I took it straight to the best detail shop I could find to have a titanium coating applied over the paint to protect is as I will be taking the truck Offroad very often, but I finally washed my truck today after a month of dirt and over the entire body I see tiny little rust spots underneath the coating, has anyone else had any paint problems?

    Pics would help

A lot of time it is road debris, pollen/sap and brake dust embedded in the paint.

Any metal particles (brake dust and such) can look like they are rusting if they are stuck on and stay there long enough. A clay bar will tell you

Did you see the guy with the 16 MGM that didn't match from one half of the vehicle to the other?

it is quicksand, and pictures would be pointless because all the specs are so small, i will try a clay bar tomorrow. and ceramic is good but the titanium is stronger trust me I've tested it lol

It's railway dust. My wife's 2016 silver Rav4 had it, and I've noticed it on many new Toyota vehicles on the lot (I haven't checked other brands, but I assume they have it too if they travel by train). It's specs of metal from the train and tracks that become imbedded in the paint as they cool (think of the hot metal dust in the air when a train stops). Luckily, a clay bar takes care of it nicely.

the only thing is when the coating was put on the detail shop told me the truck was perfect and they didn't have to fix anything so I'm hoping its just on the surface

The guy who clayed my wife's vehicle said you can get railway dust from driving through areas with trains, industrial areas of the city, etc. If it looks like specs of rust, I'd be shocked if it's something other than railway dust. It won't all be imbedded in the paint, but a claybar and someone who knows what they're doing will take care of it.

Man this is what gives us detailers a bad name. The truck should have been thoroughly decontaminated (cleaned, foamed, clayed) then polished THEN coated. I could've done it with Modesta which is one of the best ceramic coatings for half that price. That's horrible man, I'd go back and pitch a HUGE fit.

IronX is great, we use it before we clay.

So is it like undercoating for paint? Seems like a scam, especially for $3k.

It is expensive but it has saved me from so many pin stripes and scratches, my fender flares are scratched to hell but can't see a single scratch in my paint, and it's basically just a gnarly clear coat I just need to figure out what these spots are

Yeah they should definitely take care of you. I know stuff goes for different prices depending on the area, so I was not trying to say you got ripped off. Sorry if it came off that way. I just meant for that price, you shouldn't be having a single problem, and since you are, they should completely take care of you. I really don't think rail dust would stick to a ceramic coatings though. I've never seen that. Hopefully it's on top and not under the coating though.
