My rear setup is perfect right now. The shocks I have only get about 9" of travel but I have them maxed. When you order the rear king shocks from Down South Motorsports and tell them you have a Dakar leaf spring set they put a 1" longer rod end on the shop to help match the travel range better. Right now I have about 3.5" of shaft showing under normal loads. When I fully droop the rear the leafs limit the shock right about where they should. Up travel is limited almost perfectly as well with the superbumps and 1 - 3/8" spacer.

The dakars are great at carrying weight. You will want the add a leaf they come with though d29xl is believe is the part number. I regularly overload the bed with around 1000 pounds of aluminum and barely start to kiss the bumps at that weight.

Wonder if Icon would have something like the King extended rod end.

How's the ride quality when you're not loaded down with the Dakar's?

I ordered them straight through Micah over the phone with DSM and he was the one that actually told me about the longer rod ends. I am pretty sure I paid the normal listed price though.

Powder Extreme Coatings in West Jordan. Talk with Kevin or Senior. I use them for all my racks and although they can get busy at times and take a little longer they are some of the best people to work with and have extremely reasonable pricing.

I would think they do. I am pretty sure their shocks have a different travel range anyway where you wouldn't need it. Regardless of what you get, cycle your suspension and get some measurements before you do anything.

My dakars now ride great. That being said they have about 50k on them so they are pretty broken in. When I had them with the OME shocks they were less than desirable. They hold weight well but were stiff. The king shocks help control them much better. I got the clickster things to adjust compression etc on the fly and those I really like. Depending on how much weight I have in the bed I adjust them. Extremely happy with the setup now, even with the bed empty and just the shell, and toprac on they are great.

I'm not familiar with how to properly cycle the suspension (new to this truck thing). Can you detail how to properly do so and what these measurements would mean?

Basically allowing the suspension move through the full range of motion, all the way up and all the way down. Easiest for the rear would be find a service ramp and back up to get the rear wheel tucked all the way up until the suspension is maxed out (without the rear shock in, or keep it in with the understanding that you have to watch the shock extend out and either wait till the suspension maxed or shock is about to max). From that point measure point to point on the shock mount location, compare to your shock if you removed it before flexing it out.

Like I said to you in PM, I had the dakar pack with only a shell all the way until I got my rear bumper without issue.

    This VVVV

Also, check out @Crom Build thread. He has a good writeup on how he measured for proper shock length, bump height, etc.

Wow, that really puts your packing and shipping workload in perspective. It was exciting to get a sneak peak!

Any chance you'd be able to meet up for a brief minute so I can check out your CBI bumper in person? I'm trying to decided between CBI and Pelfreybilt. A guy from UTOR was kind enough to allow me to check out the Pelfreybilt and would like to see CBI. Pelfreybilt is holding their black Friday sale for me through tomorrow and need to make decision quick (or pay full price if I choose Pelfreybilt). I tried PMing you but didn't hear back. Let me know, really appreciate it.

I'm at work at 14600 South until 5pm. Depending on traffic I could be there before 5:30 easily. Would you like to PM me address so that's not public?

If you work on 14600 south I can just meet you somewhere close by there. I live right there anyway. I will leave work at 5:00 and we could meet at the Harmons off Bangerter Crossing around 5:15?

Perfect. I'll be in a Pyrite Mica Tacoma closer to the back of the Harmons lot.
