My wife is wanting to get a bunch of lighting stuff done in the house soon, and electrical is not something I mess with much, I can replace existing items but as far as running new cables and wiring it all into something else is a bit beyond what I'm looking to do and feel good and safe one what I did. With that I know every state is different but what can I expect for the following roughly:
8 can lights (or how much per)
    2 pendent lights
    2 coach lights
    5 new electrical sockets
3 new switches for the added lights.

Thanks for any info given. I will be calling around and setting up some appointments for quotes but just want to see what I should expect which I'm feeling is $150-200 and item I'm guessing.

Thats totally going to be dependent on ease of wiring access / do you have room for more circuits / do existing circuits and wiring need to be upgraded etc

Kinda like when people ask me how much it costs to build a house

Definitely doable. I just refinished my stairs. It is a lot of prep work. I would also consider using a prestain wood conditioner before the staining. That will help with the blotchiness.

Here are the treads only. Just after pulling the carpet off, once demo was done, and after the stain and poly coats have been applied.

What I have been doing for the last 9 weekends...
Had a buddy help for the first 6 weekends, but apart from that, it is just me rolling along every weekend, sun up to sun down.
Way more work than I thought and still got a about 3 weekends to go before I can say finished-ish...

Absolutely beautiful! Reminds me of my New Orleans yard. Yes it's a labor of love, but I made mine low maintenance. I could 'mow' with the weedeater and be done in 10 minutes. Pull a few weeds, add yearly mulch.

Before and after from same POV.

We spent all our skate time just enjoying that yard.
When my husband got the call to work for Yosemite, my ONLY comment was "I'll miss our yard."
