hahaha! sorry to hear that! So did I, they were a pita from go!

Finance guy actually got rude with my wife while in his office, I told him if he spoke
to her like that again, I'd be leaving with my old taco and his teeth.

We've never, after 20+ vehicles dealt with a dealership like that one.
So far, service has been ok but I've not dealt with anything other than oil
changes but we'd never buy from or recommend them in anyway.

My more local dealer didn't have any Tacomas in stock that cost less than $40k in the last week of July when I purchased this one. Haley had the one I wanted at a price that was cheaper than others in the area. I'll probably be bad mouthing them for years. My motivation for this thread is not revenge. I'm genuinely curious if this while have any other effect on the truck. BTW there's a 2016 2WD DC in today's newspaper used for only $2k less than I paid for a new 4WD Sport. So THAT dealer is thieving. I know...who reads the newspaper?

I'm confused. How do you demand they do TSBs? TSBs are designed to assist a tech in the event of an issue. It's a reference, not a recall.

I'm confused, should a used 2WD truck not be cheaper then a new 4x4, how is that thieving?

SMH. I'm pretty sure that 2WD cost less new than they are asking for it now at the VW dealer.

I'm not sure if they "just do" TSB's if you ask if you're not having any issue related to it. I know
when I asked about it, he went over it but I said ok, just curious as I wasn't feeling the delay that
    other have issues with.

That's not really the focus of this thread. I did not "demand" they do it. I was having shifting problems and told the service rep I had seen there is a TSB on it to reflash the transmission. I also have the wind noise from the lower front end. Asked for the TSB to be done for that. I did not ask for anything having to do with the ECU. The tech took the initiative. They said there was a TSB on that as well. I'm glad he was saving me a future trip. I'm frustrated that although they are fixing it I was not provided a comparable vehicle for the week. No one's business but my family needed use of a truck for the weekend.

"Fried" is kind of a bad term. What happens is they lock up during programming based on the things I mentioned earlier. Its actually pretty common. The more fixes they create based on programming modules, the worse it will get. Before high speed internet was so widespread, updating modules was unheard of.

Previous post: "Here's me taking their badge off last week"

I always take off the dealer ad badges, even if they are good people. Also, I completely remove those hideous Tacoma/SR5/ V6 badges on the doors/tailgate and replaced them with the tailgate letters and decal (Tacoma w/mountains on rear bedside) bought from a member of TW. I think the OEM decals on the bedside sections (TRD's, OR's, etc.) look awesome! But, I certainly wasn't going to put a TRD decal on my truck as that is not what it is...

Just so you know, your warranty and 2 year toyotacare are good at any dealer, not just the one you purchased from. So if have a more local dealer they can do your free service there.

This is all dependent on if the 2wd truck has anything extra, such as P&T package, mud flaps, running boards, etc.
It can be ¨thieving¨ or it could be right on market value, more details will be needed to determine that.

I'm sure service writers love it when people ask them to complete TSB's. They just want to sell you the injector flush, and never call you when it's ready. Things break and shit happens. One way to get on the bad side of a service manager is demand a free warranty when something breaks and they are repairing it for you, like they are supposed to do. It would be different if there might be lingering issues down the road because of it.

Don't reward bad dealerships with more of your money! Reward the dealerships that do a good job, and try to take care of their customers. It's very hard to run a dealership the right way, there are thousands of transactions every month, and it's easy to screw stuff up. The good dealers are honest, treat you right, and want to resolve the problems that may arise. Reward the dealers that do it the right way.

I wouldnt say they fried it, more than likely they bricked it during the update process due to some sort of accident that cause a disruption during the update.

exactly why i have not done the tranny TSB. i drive with ECT on or in S select mode and have zero issues. doing the TSB in my case is a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" situation. i would shit if that happened to me

Bed rug, ARE bed top, Weathertechs. Little goodies here and there!
I know this is 3rd gen, but I needed a tsb done on my 2nd Gen for the timing issues when hot in hot weather. They bricked mine as well due to the unit that was flashing shut off in the middle of the flash. Dealer was cool about it apologetic etc and I was cool about it as mines a mall queen so as long as I had a ride I was good. They had a new ecu shipped and installed

Moral here is. If you have a reputable dealer, you shouldn't be worried.

Asking because you don't know the information doesn't make you an asshole *or* stupid. I've heard of them getting bricked before, but I didn't know about the 8/80k federal warranty. Learn something new everyday! That's why I'm on here. ;-)

Them treating you like a dolt because you want your oil changed at 5k is just unacceptable. Just because the manual lists 10k doesn't mean squat.. *especially* on the very first change. It's your truck.. you should get to choose without them giving you crap about it. Unless it's just waaayyy out of your way, I'd seriously consider taking your truck to a different dealer for future maintenance!

I make the dealership take it off before I accept delivery of the vehicle.
