I had a house AND a Tacoma when I lived on the West Coast. Representing that 1%.

YOU owned the house, or did the bank own that house?

You sound pretty condescending when you generalize like that and make it sound like it's a horrible thing to live in an apartment.

I think there's a general problem with the math behind a house being an 'investment'. When you figure in all of the finance fees, maintenance, insurance, and headaches of owning, it honestly doesn't necessarily work out as an investment. The bank always makes money, and that's about it.

Highly agreed. A house is a never ending headache especially in todays climate, things get expensive real fast, so that's why I think most people prefer to rent at this juncture. Why buy the cow, when the milk is cheaper?

Didn't say it is horrible to rent an apartment

My thought process was I never owned a $43k truck when I was renting. I had $2000 or less beaters

Just talking about what I am seeing locally

In LA?! The question is, was it her parents place and did they hand it down to her? If it was a hand me down per se, that doesn't necessarily count. If you had bought before everything was expensive you could had gotten a nice size chunk of land for way cheaper than what it's all going for right now?

Most of the world lives in dwellings that we would call apartment size so maybe Tacoma owners are more in touch with the world climate lol.

Ahaha wooooah. No one here is paying that much for our trucks. You just happen to have the most expensive variant.

This may be getting off topic but I read sometime ago that the majority of the meat on a cow is not consumable. Going off that mentality, there would be more a payoff in just buying the meat from the store and the milk when the upkeep and maintenance for a cow is a lot more over time for not as much payoff. Just a thought.

I drive a Tacoma because I don't like being stuck in my apartment on my days off... It gives me the chance to get out and roam around, I guess?

I raised my own cow last year. It came out to $4/lb for all the cuts. Ribeyes, sirloin, etc. Much cheaper.

Yes but how many lbs. Are we talking here? And practically speaking, how often are you really going to eat meat? It would go bad before you could consume it all.

A bank owns my house for 29 more years, a bank owns my Ford for 5 more years but I do have a pretty sweet busted 1996 4Runner that cost me $200 and that baby is all mine!

This is a weird thread with even weirder comments. Haha. Entertaining though...
