Before I even start, I know this has been discussed time and time again I'm sure. But I can't seem to find the EXACT answer I'm searching for so I'm making a post to see if I can get my answer.

Now, I need shocks all the way around my 02 extended cab v6. I figured while I was at it I would lift it and also replace the coils. So here's where I'm at. I am wanting to achieve a lift but also want the truck to be level and ride smooth!

I'm going to go with Bilstein 5100 but can't decide which coil to go with. Do I go with the 3in Toyota/Eibach coil or do I go with the OME Coil.
And which setting do the Billies need to be set on with whichever coil you recommend. And in the rear I'm gonna go with an AAL.

Here's a pic of my truck as it sits now.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I'm not familiar with eibachs but the OME 882s should get you a couple inches of lift. You should try to rely on the coils to provide the lift and not adjust the shocks, adjusting the shocks makes for a much stiffer ride the higher you go with them. Although the 5100s set to .85 isn't too bad and with the 882s will give you close to 3"

If you're close to 3" you may want too look into new UCAs as well or you might run into alignment issues. The SPC light racing UCAs are an affordable option

Going to try my best to not have to replace UCA due to tight budget. So I guess added to my original post. What's best so I don't have to replace uca. Thanks!

Keep it at 2" or under would be my suggestion then. 5100s left at 0 (no preload) and OME 881s or 882s would be your best bet. Not sure about the Eibachs but if they keep you around that height you should be fine

But wouldnt an AAL in the back cause rake again? If I only went 2in in front

I'm not sure how much lift a single AAL provides, I think it's only 1"? So yeah, if you went 2" in the front and 1" in the back, you'd have a reverse rake ('bro lean')...I have a 3 leaf AAL in the rear on both sides and it gave me close to 3" of rear lift, if I were to take out the overload spring it would be 2". So maybe your best bet would be to go with a 3 leaf AAL and remove the overload.

"Bro lean". Lol. I like it:D. I went with a 2in daystar AAL on my last Tacoma and it was way to high. Had a 2.5in Spacer lift with 2in add-a-leaf and it leaned forward just like stock. And I hated it. Hopefully won't have that problem with Toytec.

Supposedly the Toytec/Eibach coils give a 3in lift on our model tacomas (95-04). Can anyone attest to that?

You can lift the suspension 2.5" on a 1st gen 4X Tacoma
but that will be the limit and still be able net the minimal alignment specs.

Taller then 2.5" will have you purchasing aft mkt UCA's
so that your alignment can be set to specification.

I had 881 coils installed with the 5100's set at 0". Horrible ride quality. I drive a 2000 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner V6 2WD. I cant even imagine what the ride is like with the Eibach coils... I am going to look into getting the Nitrochargers that are supposed to be paired with the OME coils...

Ucas arent required as far as tire wear or suspension limitations go. but the driveability is affected some. so they may be recommended but like alot of people youl be fine without them. can always upgrade down the road.

Yes, I had 3" Eibach coils w/ 5100's on the bottom setting. And regular 5100's in the back w/ a 1.5" AAL. Leveled it out perfect. That was my old set up. The ride was pretty stiff. Although I've never had OME coils, I heard they aren't as stiff as the Eibachs. Sorry, I have a DC as you can see. I just read your Thread title!

Really? I have 881s and when my 5100s were at 0, the ride quality was just like stock. Well...the rear was super stiff but that's got more to do with my AALs and overload spring. But the front wasn't bad at all.

Recently I wanted a bit more lift so I went up to .85 on the 5100s and now the front is a little jarring, but not too bad.

So. Am I gathering this correctly?

Old man Emu set on zero or Eibach set on 0 is the way to go for sure with Billie 5100. But now which one is better:eek:

You sound just like me when I was looking to lift my truck. I personally went with Bilstein/Eibach, just because I didn't want to see yellow, and at least at the time, the combo was a bit cheaper. From all of the research I did in the past, I gathered that some people thought the ride quality was a bit better with the OME setup. With that being said, I have never been upset with the quality of my ride with my set up.

This gallery below is what sold me on the Bilstein/Eibach

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bilstein-5100-eibach-gallery.176037/

There are some guys with some pretty sweet setups on here, try taking a look at some builds and what they used. That's what helped me finally decide.

Awesome! Appreciate the info! Did you go
With Toytec AAL in the rear?

Yeah I went with the AAL. I believe that's the best way to go, it also gave a little bit of renewed life to the stock leaf springs ;)

When you finally decide to make the purchase, make sure to look up the Toytec discount code on these forums. I think its about 5%, which basically covers the shipping cost, it did for me at the time anyway.

If I recall correctly, from everything I have read from peoples experiences, the OME gives a little better ride quality and the Bil/Eibach will be a little stiffer but able to handle other after market accessories, steel bumper, winch, etc, a little better.
