There are several ways to lift your truck. Most of it comes down to what you use your truck for, which brand or style of suspension you prefer, and what your budget is. I have included a link to our kits page so you can check out some of your options along with pricing. Keep in mind we can modify our kits or custom build you a kit to fit your specific needs.

The assembly was done correctly and what Andrew is implying is not possible based on the shocks internal design, specifically the piston. Also the nut could not be torqued down properly without preventing the shaft from rotating. We would be happy to expand on this if needed.

The owner contacted Goobersbro directly because there were improper assumptions being spewed on the forum along with him speaking for us in regards to Bilstien’s warranty. All of which were unfounded and inaccurate. Posts like this can hurt a company’s reputation so based on what was said we felt the need to PM him to clarify our stance and the actual happenings. We never said anything about “trash talking” we just didn’t understand his involvement. He didn’t buy from us nor was he completely aware of the conversations that took place.

Here was our response from Andrews e-mail he sent, we have still not heard back from him:

Andrew,

I understand your frustration and we are here to help in any way that we can. Unfortunately there is no way that we would have been able to tell that the shock was faulty before it was cycled. I have never seen a failure like this before but I can say I have seen failures from every brand of suspension we sell. This is just sometimes the nature of the beast. Toyota, itself, has had failures and recalls associated with faulty or less-then-par components. All I can really say is that we are here to help and we will do what we can to make it right. We do have replacement boots for the SPC arms so we can gladly ship out a set of those to you. Bilstein, along with many other manufacturers do not cover any other products damaged during a failure so I don’t think they will do much to cover the boots. With that being said, you are more than welcome to contact Bilstein directly to voice your frustrations. We do what we can, as a retailer, to help with the warranty process but beyond that it is really their responsibility, as the manufacturer of the product.

I don’t really think that this would constitute as a “very long denial e-mail that says there’s nothing they can do.” We are offering to do what we can.

What I don’t think is taken at all into consideration here is

A). We are the retailer. We offer a wide variety of products all of which at one point or another have seen failures. This is very common in life in general. We do what we can to help our customers out when there is a failure but in the end it is the manufacturer’s responsibility and up to their discretion on how to handle things. If for some reason the end user experiences a failure they go back to the retailer and we work with the manufacturer to warranty the product. Many many many manufacturers will not cover shipping, cost of installation, alignments, or other products damaged as a result of the failure. As a retailer our hands are nearly tied. We work to warranty the product but if there are grievances, that would be something that the end use would have to take up with the manufacturer directly. Again we are not the ones who are responsible for product failures nor do we make the big bucks to be able to cover such expenses. Truly, on a set of Bilsteins we don’t even make a $10 profit.

B). We do what we can for our customers. We go through all of their options but ultimately it is up to them to decide what are the best products for them. I have literally had people call me and say “tell me what to buy.” I take the information that they provide and help them narrow down their options but I don’t make their decisions for them. We offer all things to all people and I don’t care one way or another if they buy the cheapest thing we sell or the most expensive. I want them to get what makes them happy, accommodates their needs, and fits within their budget.

C). Last and most importantly. As soon as the issue was brought to our attention we did everything within our power to make it right. We offered Andrew to return the entire coilover unit to us so we could assemble the new shocks and coils together for him free of charge. When that wasn’t going to work with his time frame I immediately sent him out new Bilsteins at ZERO profit. I actually ate all of the taxes which came $15 (again I only make around $10 off of the Bilsteins) so I actually took a $5 hit on them. But I was glad to do what I could. I made sure he had them in time for the weekend when he planned on doing the work. I gave him the information to return the damaged Bilstein to me and told him once we had it back and were able to go through the warranty process he would receive a refund for the shock. Then when he said he had a damaged boot I said we would ship that out to him, again free of charge, another $16 out of pocket which I am happy to cover to help him out. I can’t pay for his alignments, his time, or the heartache he has gone through, however I have offered to do what I can, and anything more could be taken up with the manufacturer directly.

Take all of this as you want but I feel as if there should be full transparency on our end at least and that anyone reading this thread should know the whole story.

Yea pretty sure we've buried it and I think Lee is done bringing it up on the form hope there isn't any hard feelings I apologize again headstrong if I caused any harm like I've said previously here and in pms that wasn't my intent. In the end he's out $100 and the world goes on.

I'm still confused on the shock not being threaded in but ultimately it's not my problem

Cops said majority of cars stolen in town are trucks. Neighbor chained his steering wheel and a metal bookshelf to his bumper LOL. Might be time for security upgrades...

Yeah that would suck bro. One of my biggest fears is to come out and my truck be gone.
Happen to my old Toyota. But fortunately for me all the wanted was the stereo system and my momo steering wheel. Found it 2 blocks away a week later. Drive it back home with a pair of visegrips as a steering wheel
I need to call my insurance and up my coverage.
