One time I was at a club in Anaheim my friend had drove there. Anyways she sets her purse down to dance while I was out smoking. Found her purse 10 minutes later with everything missing including her valet ticket. That shit sucked.

As far as insurance pay out I think your car has to be gone a long period of time or severely damaged to get a pay out. I think he was just happy to get his car back.

I think that is a crime and and of itself. Your stuff gets stolen, recovered, and towed to a yard before you even know it's been recovered-that's total butt-rape.

If it's still drivable and you get a cool cop they will actually call you and let you know they found your car and you have a half hour to come get it or it's getting towed.

Maybe just start parking in 4LO? There's an easy, but methodical, process to get a manual trans taco out of 4LO, and a thief probably doesn't have time to read the manual (like I did first time off road in the taco :anonymous:).

Remote fuel pump disconnect switch would be easy. Or you can stick a house on the back of your truck. So far so good :fingerscrossed:

"If". Most officers don't have the time to hang out and wait for you to get there. So they don't. I get that. It just sucks that on top of a stolen vehicle, you end up with a bill to get it out of the yard and another to fix it. SF actually allows residents to get their cars back for free within some reasonable amount of time.

Yes I agree it does suck. My buddy works /runs his father in laws towing co. And sad to say he makes a fricken killing off lien sale vehicles. Not all because of tow fees a lot of them are never claimed after people are notified.

So on the topic of stolen vehicles, I had my CBR 1000 stolen when I lived in San Diego about 3 weeks after I bought it brand new. Seeing as how i lived about 5 minutes from the border at the time, everyone and their brother concluded it was a lost cause...insurance still took 3 months to pay out on it and I had to keep making payments on a bike I didn't even have. I had asked to have the money that I owed when it was stolen paid and they refused as the "processing" time didn't count so whatever I owed when they got done with their BS is what they paid. Plus side? Didn't get a bump in insurance but my credit bumped up a bit more :D
