What should I examine/consider changing when my frame is replaced. My truck has 240,000 kilometers/158,000 miles. Body is in good shape.

I've read that some dealerships will gladly do other needed work or even install mods (i.e. new suspension) for you while the truck is apart getting a new frame (so long as you provide the parts, of course) and other dealerships where they won't touch anything other than what they have to. Depends on your dealership.

If you do need new suspension, now would be a good time to try and get it done

Assume you are approved for new frame?

Just for reference, your '03 was undercoated by Toyota before the deadline and has subsequently failed a frame inspection? I'm in another tread currently were a member says Toyota told him it was either that the frame was replaced upon inspection or the undercoating was applied, but not both. That scenario does not jive with my experience/research on this issue, nor with the terms in the warranty notice from Toyota.

The way the replacement program worked was if Toyota inspected and coated your frame, then you would qualify for a new frame on their dime later on down the road if your frame ended up rusting out despite the undercoating. The warranty was good for 15 years from the build date of the vehicle.

The deadline for first gens to get inspected and undercoated was awhile ago (few years?) though if I'm not mistaken, so it's too late to get the warranty if you hadn't before then.

    Agreed.

Not sure why the guy is getting the run around, unless some details have been left out. There are many accounts here of dealers not honoring the warranty, then corporate overriding that decision and authorizing the replacement.

I follow most frame threads, having been through a replacement on my '01, and I am counting on the warranty on my '03 right up to the day it expires.

The dealer has been great. Getting pricing for rear shocks, front struts and front skid plate. Thanks for the info.

I follow these types of threads also, just went through the frame swap a little over a month ago. The dealer I took mine to wouldnt do any aftermarket parts but I did add some OEM parts to the list. The dealer was a POS to deal with though, told me one thing and denied it later type shit. Last time I ever take a vehicle to them, will drive the extra half hour to the next dealer.

I chime in on some of these threads but seems like you and a couple others straighten out the bad info some throw around.
