That scares the bejesus out of me. If I have even $1000 on my cards I freak out a little and stress over making sure I get it paid off ASAP.

I run from debt like the plague. If everything remains constant I'll have managed to get out of undergrad and grad school with only $5,000 in student loans. I'm planning on throwing the majority of my signing bonus at it to get it paid off ASAP. I'm trying to buy a house in the next 5 years

I treat my credit card like a debit card, when I use it, I track the amount like it is coming out of my checking account, then EOM, pay it off. Also allows me to get the CC rewards, which is a good thing IF you don't carry any balance so no interest $$$, and IF there is no annual fee on the card.

What rewards card do you have? The Southwest card is either $79 or $99 depending on what level you get

Yeah I generally use my cards because of the rewards but there have been a few times where something happened to my dog and I blew through my emergency cash stash and had to use the cards. Damn emergency vets are expensive.

Mine is a more specialized card that puts 2% back into an education fund for my kid. But, in general I would not pay for a rewards card, every time I have done any math on it, there are better deals that give you an equivalent $$$ amount without paying them extra. But I'm sure there are cases and cards where it might make sense. Just do the math for your own case and see.

I've used this site to try and narrow it down. If anyone is looking at rewards cards check it out

Yes. I've been working on em the whole time. But even at double the minimum payment, it still takes a while to recover. My credit score is going up and debt slowly going down but man I'd love to just be done with all of it and my only debt be a truck payment.

You've helped me alot. I won't lie. my situation has gotten alot better. I was pretty proud that im 22 and could get a $35k truck on my own with a tiny down payment. I've gotten better at spending and saving for sure. Still not where I should be. But getting better

Like buying a house.....it's considered to be a "good" debt. Shows that you are working towards something.

    This.

Keeping my 4Runner til the wheels fall off. Then I'm going to bolt them back on and keep going

But unlike a house, a vehicle doesn't appreciate over time

^^^^ Best advice is not to pay interest on a depreciating asset. Tough to do, but good advice.
