Got a large slab if anyone can use it. 4x8 with a single compartment sink.

You could break it to get two 4x3 sections.

Gotta be gone today, 6th and Sheridan area.

    I grabbed 3 smaller ones.

And some metal to weld on. Gas is about $200 for a bottle and fill, so that'll wait.

Is that to own a bottle? Once you own it, the gas is pretty cheap.

You'd be better off not learning on flux core IMO, but I'm far from an expert.

Yeah that's to own one. Same diameter as a big one but half the height.

I'm sure it's not ideal, but it's better than not learning. :) they said to check online, people sell bottles for cheaper and they can check and fill it.

Yeah. I just have a 80cf bottle. Seems adequate for my needs. Depending on the size $200 sounds very reasonable to own a tank.

Probably will get an even smaller one for 100% AR for when I decide I want to try TIG.

    Did you just get here?
Been this way for a while.

I think it's a result of our educational system.
I can't believe some of the crap my kids tell me they heard from teachers at school.
At least they tell me so I can set them straight.

Anyway, if you want to push an agenda, there's no better long term way to accomplish that than brainwashing the youth.
Short term, get control of the media.

Oh i know it's been going downhill for a while. And i also know that without a serious intervention, it won't stop. I also have seen the reality of how The dumbing down is making teachers and first responders leave their professions for good.

In other news. The bed looks huge without the divider! Need to pop out The passenger side bed storage box so i can work on an air tank mount.

Is there a way to tell if metal is galvanized?

I got this at the metal yard today.... Making the air tank mount.

    1115161413.jpg

The good news is... I'll only need to weld a tiny bit, and i have a respirator.

Galvanized is usually shiny and will not rust.

Dude, that's just straight up sheet metal. You really should learn to recognize on sight, it may save your life :)
    All right...lets get technical
Galvanized coatings look like little flakes.
    https://www.google.com/search?q=gal...ved=0ahUKEwjnjcaO26vQAhVilVQKHTlOCzMQ_AUIBigB

Then there is Galvaneal...this coating can look shiny or matte finish. Still deadly.
    https://www.google.com/search?q=gal...ved=0ahUKEwixrvnT3KvQAhVCh1QKHWaQAcsQ_AUIBigB

Either way, nothing wrong with the respirator if you want to use it.

Galvanized does rust, but it takes decades. generally, there is no rust as long as the coating is not compromised, scratched, removed, burned off from a welder, etc..

That piece in your hand, is actually Hot Rolled steel, that's why it appears to have a coating. It's just leftover slag from the process. Perfectly safe. Burn that shit.

    Stuff and junk and things...
There's also P&O (pickled and oiled) mild steel.

From today . I haven't welded in a while, this is one continuous bead.
