    Hello all,

I took my 01 Tac to a shop due to some progressive rusting around the windshield to have the piece cut out and net piece welded in paint new windshield etc...when I got the truck back there is a new significant rattle from the area by the passenger airbag in the dash. When cleaning I found this clip under the seat. The truck interior is meticulas clean. So it wasn't there before. When I asked the mechanic he gave me a frustrating answer like it looks like it has a wood screw in it. Obviously not going to be any help trying to figure it out. Could have fallen out of a tech's pocket but guessing not. Anyone recognize it?
    Thanks

Does the color match your interior or exterior color?
Looks a bit like the interior visor clip (near the rear-view mirror)

Thanks for the replies, it doesn't match interior color. (Grey on grey). Have a feeling it screws into the over head and the knotch has holds the head liner or something. Or into a bracket and hold the dash... possibly from rattling. Either way I have detailed the truck more times than I can count so it's nothing that is exposed likely hidden behind snap in facing..? But at the end of the day it could be nothing at all.
    Thanks again

YES... and the light is loose. They took off the quarter panel to repair some dents too!

Awesome thank you. I don't use the word hero lightly but you Jerry311SD are a superhero...

If I were you, I'd be back at the mechanic. If he was working in that area, he should have damn well known what that part was for. It begs to question his capability to work on my truck. I fired my last mechanic for shoddy workmanship. In one visit, he busted all the clips holding the grill on, busted the plastic trim outboard side of the drivers seat, left the used/old plugs rattling around in the engine bay... Obviously, he claimed the busted shit was that way when I brought it in (it wasn't). Got the run around on the rest. Idjit still sends me service notices for my vehicles...

How many miles do you have on your truck? My grill clips were so brittle I broke a few and replaced them all. Since I have 249,kkk miles on my truck. Same with the buttons that hold the inner fender well aprons. I replaced all those too. Plastic only lasts so long before it becomes brittle enough to break. The other things your ex mechanic did I can totally agree with getting rid of his ass!

You do have a point about age/brittleness. But I had removed and reinstalled the grill numerous times, and replaced the clips as necessary. If you know how to remove them, they are not apt to break - but yeah, I'm over 225,000 miles.

I really didn't mind that he broke things, just that he would take responsibility for doing so...
