I took the truck to the Toyota "certified" / recommended body shop. Obviously I expected it to cost a whole lot, but not as much as what they are asking. I am certainly going to take it to a few more places and see what they are going to charge me. Here are the prices/estimates/BS below. What do you think I should really be looking to pay to fix that damage? I would really just be fine with just the door replaced. The repairs now will run me 6 days without the truck.

$40.31 for the "Tacoma" nameplate on my door?? :/

most of that work seems unnecessary....is there damage that isn't shown in the pic?

$1,700, including a new door from Toyota. (not a knock off)

That's what my similar boo-boo ran at a quality shop.

They were done in 4, but I didn't take it to them until the new door arrived.

The only other thing I can think of is this black little seal beside the orange piece. On my other side it is covering everything, not really sure the use. He opened my door, looked in that area and looked at the actual damage on the outside and made his report from that.

    That estimate seems reasonable.

Have them find you a used door, and tell them you dont want the rear door blended. Not all whites are the same but if your looking to cut cost that will help. 4 hours to repair the fender I cannot see since the photo is too far away.
Ask them if you can get a rate discount or if they are a DRP for your insurance carrier. They may be obligated to give you a rate discount if your insurance is a partner of theirs.

So, are you turning it in to insurance for a claim or not? If not take it to a reputable auto body place and get another estimate and tell them you're paying cash. It'll be way less I would think...good luck

I really have know clue if I am going to turn it in to insurance or even get it fixed. I don't really want my insurance to skyrocket due to the damage. It is just an eye-sore to me, and I still have no clue who did it to my truck.

That's way too much in my opinion. I do estimates for a living.

I would've wrote a door skin, not the entire shell, and a little repair time on the fender flare.

Although on the nameplate you do normally replace those, a lot of times they can get damaged during the R&I Process. However it is a good reason to de-badge and take it off the other side..

i'd got to more then one shop and your insurance probably won't "skyrocket" but.... um, yea, having a son who owns a body shop they will bang that job out in so little time it will blow your mind, but it's probably a fair estimate since hours are "book" "insurance" based regardless if he has a dude who rocks and rolls. Sorry OP you don't know who whacked ya.

I just wrote one up for shiggles and gets. Provided the fender itself isnt damaged, just the flare and the door. I came up with $1252.91, same labor rates and tax rate too.

typically they weld a new door 'skin' not replace the entire door.

Ahh, even with the small spot on the fender id still, most likely be around 1500-1700.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
I got quoted $7k preliminary for new front fender/moulding/headlight, whole new passenger door + power mirror, new skin on rear passenger door, painted cab to blend all of passenger side, new bedside, decal...

Yours seems a bit high and based on some of those lines you aren't showing all the pictures.

Yeah they definitely shouldn't have wrote 4.0 to fix the fender.

I had damage kinda like this, except worse. My bed, passenger rocker and door where smashed to shit. Had to weld in new rocker and door skin, body work on bed and paint everything... Cost me $1700 out the door. I live in Los Angeles also, where everything is more expensive.

I would already be looking somewhere else after seeing the labor they are charging you to replace fender...

Use the insurance you paid for and don't worry about it. If it happened while the truck was parked and you didn't know who hit it it shouldn't cause your rates to go up.

That is the purpose of insurance.
