Looking at moving to a second gen. Found a used one I like until I saw this. Is this a blown head gasket?

Milkshake looking coolant? Bad news, could very well be a blown head gasket. I've heard that rust can cause it to look like that too, though. But that sure doesn't look good.

That gunk in the oil cap is normal.

A few threads on here about that.

That what I'm thinking. Just wanting some opinions. It's a Toyota dealership and it's "been through" their garage.

Does the coolant gurgle or bubble when you rev the engine? It's a sign of compression escaping into the coolant system due to leak in the head gasket. YouTube it.

Toyota coolant is pink, so that just looks like old pink coolant to me. Not many people drain/change their coolant.

Me either it's rusty looking. And it ran less than 5 minutes and had a lot of pressure on the radiator cap

Run it with cap open...if you see bubbles in either there or overflow then run

Thank you all. I'll try and see what it does. I'll say it again this is the best taco site. Side note the oil is super dirty. So maybe it's a lack of maintenance and it is old coolant.

Yeah it needs a serious servicing. Hopefully the HG checks out

Looks normal to me. Coolant looks rusty inside the black filler neck, but looks perfectly pink in the little bit held in the actual cap. Owner took lots of short trips.

Hope they offer some type of warranty after showing them the oil and coolant, so you don't get stuck with a big repair bill.

That would be nice. I doubt they would a warranty. It's a 2005 with 146k. 4x4 access cab. Asking $14k for it.

Something I would be equally, if not more concerned about would be the frame, seeing how your 2005 potentially has 1 more year to be inspected, if that $3 billion class action lawsuit goes through. I would have them check the frame and if it has a lot of corrosion or has never had the LSC done I would pass on it.

What's the rest of it look like ? Is it a TRD ?
Either way, that's about top dollar and then some for that truck, I'd go look at a couple more. No great loss if this one gets by you or sold before you get back to it.

There are a lot more "wear parts" than the frame and springs.

Look too for a private sale where you can talk to the owner and gauge the level of care the truck has received over the years.

    How many owners ? Recpt's ? CarFax ?

Even with a new frame, I believe Fluid Film is your frames best friend, especially when it's in a fight with salt/brine slush.
