Finally hooked up my CB today!!!

I'm stoked that I got it hooked up finally. I ordered a Cobra 19 DX IV and it looks hella clean where I mounted it. Pics coming soon!!! I'm not sure how to tune the antenna though, I have a 4 foot Firestik II. Does anybody have experience with tuning this antena? I also hear that an SRW tuner will get the antenna tuned with the CB so I get as much performance as I can. Anybody know how to use one of these?

 

You will need the meter to tune...get one at Frys for like 15 bucks which is the cost of the meter and the 3 ft cable.

I need a PA speaker too. I was thinking about getting 2: one under the body facing foward, and the other by the tow hitch facing backwards. That a good idea???

 

where did you get your set up from and how much was it? also pictures of mounting.

Well I traded my buddy a can of dip for the antenna, so that was a steal. And the Tranceiver was $50 from ebay. So the whole setup was about $70. I'll be posting pics tomorrow of the location of the tranceiver and the CUSTOM mount (sorry for the delay). I also borrowed a neighbor's SRW tuner and got it dialed in and I was talking to a guy about 5 miles away. So it's not the best setup but it works. I also bought 2 PA speakers off member "taco06" so I'm just waiting for them to get here so I can hook them up. I was told that I can get a "linear amplifier" to increase the power and range of my CB... is this true?

 

I have the Powerhorn PA from Radio Shack and that thing is a beast.

 

I'm not sure what kind these are but he says they are super loud. So I'm gonna have them both bridged through an amp so they are loud as F**K.

 

Mine is at 50 watt...and it is just powered by the Radio which is not that much...I can't imagine if it was hooked up to an amp how loud it would be.

 

I'm hoping that with the amp it will boost them up to like 250db. That'll be like deafening.

 

did you guys get a cb radio hook up kit? if so where?

It's really simple. Just wire your tranceiver to your battery and frame, mount the antenna in a reasonable spot, hook the antenna up with the coaxel cable, and tune. It's plug-n-play stuff.

 

Where in sac are you? If you need/want help hooking it up, I can give you a hand. I'll bring the tuner so you don't have to buy one.

I still need to paint the mount and get the tranceiver fixed. It just slides around from side to side right now. But I think both the mount and the tranceiver location are legit.
