YES, im referring to a possible way of pulling a pin or harness somewhere in the vehicle to disable the TPMS. I have seen it for the 2nd Gen but wondering if anyone knows for sure on the 3rd Gen.

There are aftermarket sensors that are programmable. We use them in snow tires and register them with the same numbers as the summer tires so the light will stay off all year without reprogramming.

... until you have a blowout from under-inflated tires and cause an accident or worse.

i don't believe any aftermarket sensors work with 3rd gens just yet. i ended up purchasing a set of PMV-C015 sensors and getting them "woke" to my car when i swapped wheels. kind of costly to get rid of a light, but it gives me peace of mind

Why in the world would you want to disable such a valuable safety feature. Its like not wearing seatbelts or a helmet. Having a early warning system to tell you your tire is going flat DOES prevent accidents. Most of the time front tire flats cause you to loose control at freeway speeds, causing you to spin out, change lanes and sometimes into on coming cars.

Flat tires can be fixed most of the time IF discovered early. Once they are totally flat, they get ruined.

Disabling this required safety feature may be illegal. If you have an accident due to tire blow out and kill someone, just know a complete investigation will take place. Doing something intentionally may cause criminal charges to be filed.

Lets not be stupid here, make the TMPS system work.

Definition of "stupid", One that knows better. Definition of an "idiot", One that doesn't know they are stupid.

OTOH some drivers are capable of managing their own tire pressures.

Some drivers are capable of handling a tire failure on the road. (most deaths in the Explorer/Firestone debacle were caused by lousy maintenance, lousy driving and lack of seat belt use)

Road debris can cause an instant flat that TPMS has no way to offer warning for.

Worn out tires can have a happy TPMS and fail instantly, sans tread separation.

I find TPMS fine most of the time but too complex and expensive to repair for the minor value given. Another effort to force the customer to the dealer or a repair shop. It's not hard, just requires tools most folks don't have or want.

I don't meed more government nannies or a 'safe place'.

Please keep your OWN OPINIONS to yourself. This thread is not the place for you to rant. If you don't feel comfortable doing it then don't do it. But just so you are aware, automobiles, since 1885, have NOT been equipped with TPMS until recently. Based on your comment, you should tell everyone driving older cars to get off the road too

btw... if one is such an idiot that they can't tell their tire is flat, they shouldn't be driving anyways

Really though, I'd like to disable my TPMS as well. I can manage it on my own just fine, thank you. Less electronic nannies for the responsible people, please and thank you!
