I got 20+ mpg coming back from AZ w/ cruise at 70, w/ ac on in the middle of summer. The temp gauge said 115! Bone stock accept k&n drop in & mobil 1 syn. A full tank of v power 91 shell got me 420 miles till the light came on. :D

Truck got a full overhaul from the dealer when I bought it, and I just brought it to my local mechanic last night to check it again, in case the dealer fudged some stuff. Plugs, pressure, filtersers = all good, he didn't even try to sell me new stuff even though he saw I was desperate and had my wallet open. Wheels and tires were stock all season 265s, as of last night they're now stock-size snow tires. Gas is whatever is available on highways between VT and MA.

set cruise at 62mph (speed limit is 65) = 15mpg.

I guess that phrase "your mileage may vary" comes from somewhere.

I get 20+ mpg as measured by the pump/odometer regularly.

+1. And that is with an even split of city/highway driving.

I only get like 280 miles on a tank.. I hate my tacoma for that reason alone..

None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars
I have to say 15mpg is low for a V6 Tacoma , at least in my opinion. I use only two types of gas, Gulf and Citgo(if only for the reason that we have those gas credit cards and there are lots of Gulf stations in MA.)
I usually don't check my fuel mileage in the winter. I rarely start my truck up and let it warm up for an extended period of time, unless I am clearing snow off of it or moving it to get it out of the way to snow blow the yard.
Winter mileage checks are always lower than spring and summer time. Even at that my truck does not get beyond 20mpg anytime...... just had my truck in for the 30K service , all tire pressures are up to spec, so perhaps I will give the mileage check another try.My truck is completely stock, use Mobil One, stock air filter....
I had hoped with the trans in 6th and on the highway at 65-72 I could have gotten 22mpg ..... In MA. of course if you don't drive 70 or so you get run over on the highway!

yup...down right dangerous to drive a reasonable speed down there sometimes....seems even worse on I-95 in CT, if you're not doing 75mph in a 55zone someone is likely to shoot you or run you off the road for impeding their very important business .

Anyway, I think I'll suspend final judgment on my Toy until we get some above-freezing air temps and I run a few tanks of corn-free gas.
(and maybe I'll go double check for a leak in my gas tank;))

This is true for the MA Turnpike and 495 type roads. We have been driving down to DC every couple of months to see a new born. While on the MA pike we were in our 09 Subie, going up hill I was doing about 78mph,(middle lane) very light traffic, before I knew it a "Statey " was passing me, going about 85+. Just cruising on by, passed me like I was standing still.

Down towards NY/NJ and into Delawar 75mph is about average, which is great but you always get the dopes who go from the right hand lane to the left with no directional on at all.
In NY I saw a guy who was ticked off that the high speed lane was only 70mph and he crossed into the slower right hand lane, passed 9 cars , then cut from the right to the high speed lane, just because he could not get around those cars. Of course there were no troopers around. What a shame.

Doesnt seem right. 6spd loves 62. Hwy trip at that speed, should be able to pull 18 even in dead of winter running snow tires.

Last week towed 250 mi a 1500 lb, two place snowmobile trailer w/ 1000 lbs of wood in bed (on way up), and got 15 mpg, doing right around 60-62 whole time.

Your mileage will go up 2-3 mpg in summer.

My '09 DblCab gets 19 - 22 depending on how I drive. 330 to 360 on 17 gals. I always let the pump shut off automatically and stop filling then. Tires presure is at 33 psi.

I only get about 16 mpg's. I don't drive it hard, I have the tires inflated to the max psi, I have a topper, 265/70R17's not much bigger then stock.. Plenty of power! I use Shell gas and Mobile 1 oil. Diesel is in my future...

I easily get over 20 mpg consistently. I do drive mostly straight flat roads and the occasional 4wheel fun, but highway, yep definately over 20. It can be done. I think the best I got was 23mpg when i went to carlsbad NM. I don't have the scangauge, but i filled up drove filled up again got whats left over divied by miles blah blah blah or something like that. over all on the way over and back averaged about 22 mpg

I keep track with fuelly. I drive my tacoma hard. Fast on the gas hard on the brake. And I am usually the one in the left lane passing everyone. But I have been averaging over 20 mpg. On long trips I set the cruise at 75 -80 and still get great millage.

Just checked my 2009 4x4 yesterday and last tank I got 18.302 mpg. I had my foot into it a bit so maybe taking it a bit easier will help. Most of my driving is city so its a bit harder on fuel. highway I have seen it hit 21 mpg.

I use 89 octane and drive in the worst of conditions for fuel economy (cold, hilly, less than 20 miles at a time, 6spd, which i hear is worse for fuel) and I am only getting 15mpg. I hope to do better in the summer but I'll be towing a boat a lot and I think it will stay around there. The auto 4cyl. sounds like your best bet if your that worried about fuel economy.

I had about 900+lbs (2 souls on board + cargo) and got a little over 22 mpg on a trip in January from Wright Patterson AFB to just east of Morgantown, WV. I just could not be happier with my Taco!!!
