You reach a point where you do more harm than good. I've seen lots of high mileage vehicles run just fine until the oil was changed then have the transmission go bad within days. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. You're likely good for at least another 100,000 miles.

The manual says never change the fluid on my 07, it has 175,000 miles and still runs perfectly. I vote NO!

I change all fluids at regular intervals based on the fluid itself.

All fluids have an average lifespan. It should be changed.

I vote change it, Valvoline Maxlife ATF. Lots of people using it here, its about 1/2 the price of WS from the dealer. I haven't seen any issues or complaints from people using it in these trucks. I'm using it in the power steering on mine, have been for over 2 years. Its getting Maxlife in the transmission at its next service.

Glad the old fluid looked good. I've heard two sides to this, there's definatly people that say your better off leaving them alone until the tranny goes. Personally I would have changed the fluid out like you did. Let us know how it holds up. Like @Marshall R said, if something goes wrong, it probably will soon. Let us know in a month or so how your rig is holding up.

    Thanks for the posts, OP.
