If you honestly think that the air it's pulling is actually "cold" or even cooler compared to what the stock intake was pulling, I have a bridge to sell you. CAI's are largely a sham especially considering what they cost.

I'll give the OP this, it looks good. That's basically all that they are though...a nice looking air intake.

I know most of you won't be able to understand this technical detail, but I'll try to educate you with my knowledge.

The key improvement with the TRD intake is the alternating red sections. It may look cosmetic, but that's only because you are probably too stupid to understand like me (I went to school, LOL!). The difference in heat transfer (delta-tee) between the black and red sections sets up a cyclic standing wave. That induces a peristaltic pumping action that, yes *really* causes a ram shaker hood effect that forces air into the engine tubes. Yes, like a *turbo* but without the noise and not re-burning exhaust like a turbo or supercharger belt sucking power from your *power* steering (Duh!).

You guys need to stop doubting TOYOTA TRAINED TECHNICIANS when they are telling the *TRUTH*!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to see how it works, watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsd5bH0y8g4

    What black and red sections?

How does a supercharger suck power from your power steering? It doesn't. It sucks power from your engine. The SC and power steering are on the same pulley. They're both pumps. The engine isn't going to turn the pulley and say "im going to give more power to the SC and steal it from the power steering pump". The power steering pump is just a load on the pulley system. The SC is just a load on the pulley system. When you speed the engine up, the SC will draw more suction, causing ENGINE load to go up. Your power steering won't change. I promise.

You're telling me that the TRD intake is forced induction? You're saying a CAI with better flow is forcing air into the cylinders.

Congratulations boys. Most of you saw right thru my mordant post. I was just having a little fun and thanks for playing along.

The CAI was a birthday present from my son. He is also a Toyo Senior Master Tech. When we installed it Sunday afternoon, he just smiled when I asked him about all the additional HP. It does dress up the rather mundane engine compartment and yes, it clashes with the IO. I do like the fact that the engine cover does not have to be trimmed like I had to on my '06 Taco and '10 Tundra.

The shift knob (and a really cool jacket) were gifts from the parts guy for being his best customer in October!!

Hope you all have a good day.

Hold on there Bub, your theory is totally flawed.

If you do not calibrate the wavelength of the cycle to the frequency of your stock Toyota muffler bearings a Sigma phase shift in the matrix of the catalytic converter will negate any possible performance increase.

    You really should have known.

Nice....it was only a matter of time before the "muffler bearing" card was played.

    Well done.

I'm pretty sure the red portion is just a flexible piece to you can quickly flip up the cover to change the air filter.

Then again, my sarcasm meter has been thrown off this whole thread, so maybe you (as well as others) already knew that.
