well owning a diesel z71 I Colorado I can say that this package will be perfect for off road uses and still make it a great daily driver. Price again will have to be about 47 or 48k for mine stickered for 42k. Now I paid 39k and think this will run about 44 to 45k out the door. As far as full size it is two different animals and ill never understand that comparison. Equally equipped it will be about 3 to 4k cheaper after discounts. Same with the Tacoma and Tundra. Some people like Suburban suv and some like the smaller SUVs loaded and price sometime is the same or more on smaller ones depending brand. It how they drive and fun and how you use them. Smaller trucks are so much more fun to drive in town and fit in garage and parking much easier. Plus just driving on roads with all the big vehicles its like you cant pass on 4 lane city streets it si so snug with the big vehicles. Now if you have family or haul a lot of people then I would definitely opt for full size for comfort of overall room for 3 or more people. For me I commute 400 miles a week to work and back then wife and I run at least 300 miles on weekends. it is just the 2 of us now and very seldom have anyone with us. If we do we take her Touareg. I have no problem paying close to same price because I fell I am getting more because it is much more fitting and fun. Off road the smaller truck on trails is much better. Comfort isn't as good still on the seats but they could fix that if they would and give us 10 way power and little bigger seats and not hard seats.

Don't know why this thread got aborted from the 3rd gen forum... seems to be highly relevant to me.

People give Chevy a lot of crap (granted a warranted reputation in the past), but their performance development team has been turning out killer vehicles. The powertrain options of a 308 hp gas or 369lb ft of torque with the diesel paired to an 8-speed auto should blow the Taco's 3.5 / 6-spd auto combo out of the water. Couple that with this Multimatic suspension and the multitude of drivetrain settings, you should have a pretty compelling package.

While I enjoy my Tacoma very much and can't really justify spending an extra $10k on a Pro or this ZR2 for off-roady bits that I'd very rarely use, it still demonstrates that Toyota got lazy when revamping the 3rd Gen. Chevy took a different approach and innovated and gave consumers more, while Toyota relied on their reputation to sell trucks. Strong competition always benefits the consumer, so maybe this will force Toyota's hand in developing a better deliverable...

It's cool but I can't fathom owning one. The last thing I want offroad is a shiny new truck with payments, I'd never use it to its potential so what exactly is the point.

IMO the Colorado may be a great truck, but it does not have the long proven reliability that the Tacoma does. I get that it is a brand new truck but I'd wait a few year until all the new bugs are sorted out before considering one. Diesel is a rad options though.

V6 gas will have the 8 speed auto while the I4 diesel gets the 6 speed auto.

I agree while I love my Taco and Taco past I still believe Toyota has alot to learn for power train combinations and option packages almost every other manufacturer does better.

I'll say it again but if Ford offers up a Ranger with crew cab 4x4 long beds with MT and a turbo 4 like they are dropping in everything now - it's game on for the midsize

Yeah you obviously have no clue on how/what makes a shock tic/work appropriately. They are not no better, they have a much better and broader tuning range from the factory than the Tacoma spec...

Side note on that video, at the end as the white one if coming down anyone see they are jumping them over rail road tracks maybe? Where is the video of that? They must have gained a few inches of travel almost mid travelish? Anyone see if those specs were shown?

Cool to see more innovation, GM isn't playing around.

Me neither. Though old Toyota trucks are my obsession, I have zero brand loyalty when it comes to new vehicles. There are too many awesome factory high-performance models to count.

Yup from Hellcats, to AMG, to the P1 horsepower wars, it is a great time to be a truck/car enthusiast. :)

Ironically, my dad is a die hard chevy person but he pushed toyota on me. With the newer tacoma and chevy platforms, it's somewhat hard to say one will out due the other. Yes toyota has a great reputation but with newer technology coming in both trucks, chevy could out perform the tacoma in the long run. Both have their issues as well, neither is perfect.

Looking at eveything chevy is putting into their vehicles and the introduction of the diesel, I wouldnt rule out getting one in the future. Had the newer colorado been out another 2 yrs with more reviews, I prob wouldve bought one.

Ya, I have no brand loyalty. Do you actually think ford will offer a mt though? After getting back into an mt again I could never go back. Which is why the wrangler trucks interest me. That and the high residual is why it might be my next lease, unless toyota quits being so reliable and boring and gets a diesel engine.

Ford has an amazing opportunity to enter this market late, after everyone has shown their hand. It's ripe.

They could come in and be the market leader again, if they can just execute. Which they should be able to do considering their direction lately. They've got some smart people over there. I love the lineup.

If they don't knock it out of the park I would be suprised, and shame on them if so.

i just had this same conversation with a friend of mine who owns a Ranger. Its PRIME for Ford to come out with a Ranger built like the Raptor. Oh man, that would ignite the war.

The problem with Nissan is the interior feels old. I was told that a redesign for the frontier is on its way and the interior should be updated, but we will see.
