@gainman I can definitely look into this, any interest in being the Guinea Pig haha? That being said, I know there's a lot of universal cup holder units available on the market, however I don't think they will "dock/undock" with one hand as nicely as this dock does.

If you can do what I am looking for I can be the guinea pig for sure. I am looking for a mount that sits securely in the cup holder and allows me to mount a USB cable on the bottom. I have an android auto head unit and the phone needs to connect by USB. I keep my phone in that cup holder anyways. I would like to be able to slide the phone into the holder really easy and dock into the USB cable. Is this possible?

    1. We can make something happen that sits securely in the cup holder
    2. I think the current design of the dock is a hybrid of this? While the USB doesn't live fixed in the dock itself, the design allows you to dock/undock with the usb already plugged into the phone without having to route the wire weird or untangle anything. The deep center cutout allows room for the wire to sit/bend in the dock. So if you have your phone plugged in via usb already, you can dock/undock with one hand without touching the wire iteslf.

I understand the design you currently have. I am trying to find a solution where I can slide the phone into the dock when I first get in without needing 2 hands. Also, if I need to pick up the phone while driving and then re engage quickly by sliding back into the dock. If you can design something where the cable end can become part of the dock I can pay for it

I've been thinking about the same thing since he began posting these. The lack of a charging mount and the fact that the location of the existing mount would take my vision too far away from the road, prevents me from buying. Outside of that it, seems like one hell of a phone mount.

@gainman I could make what you want, but you probably wouldn't be too pumped on price haha. I originally made this mount for myself so "ate" the cost of R&D. A custom dock integrated with charging would probably end up costing $100-$200. If there's enough manual guys interested in something like this to justify developing it that's one thing though, and would bring the cost down big time!

Needless to say I made a few docks before I landed on something I was happy with. I ended up tossing a bunch more too, the fiance wasn't too pumped finding these all over the place :)

EDIT: You can actually see the first one in the picture below, towards the top left (the boxy looking one)

Haha @Gaunt596 . I do recycle scrap prints, but not to re-use right back into the printer. Would be cool to have something that re-grinds and turns back into useable filament.

Also just realized a major design flaw of the dock for Iphones and their damn aux port location. Currently the dock wouldn't allow you to use the aux port while its docked. Curious to see if I can widen the center channel enough to allow access to the aux port while still providing enough shelf on the left side for the phone to sit on. I'll look into a solution for this issue.

I'm interested in one for my 15 Taco. Have IPhone 6+ with an Apple battery case.

@Firestud5 I could definitely make a dock for your phone/case combo, however I'm having trouble finding dimensions of the case. If you have a set of calipers and can get a few measurements we'd be set. I contacted Apple to see if they will provide dimensions as well.

I will get back with you on that. I'm sorry. I have a 6s, not a 6+. It is the only Apple Battery Case that Apple makes. I will get those measurements and get back with you.

    How about an IPhone 7?
    No case
And sorry if I missed it, but can you still plug the phones in for charging?

I have one for the Iphone 7/No Case. You can still plug the phone in for charging - see very professional picture below.

Not sure how I overlooked this, currently working on a pre-Iphone 7 V2 that still allows aux port use.

Thanks for the info bro :)
I work on a boat and am leaving land right now. I'll have to look at this again next week when I have service. The pic won't load up. Real crappy service. :-/

Yeah. USPS does this to me all the time, they like to change the delivery date around while it sits in the back of a truck somewhere
