Their big engines run for forever though

I really like the Duramax. I'm curious to see how the baby Duramax does over time.

 

Chevy doesn't build that one, that's why it's decent. The Duramax is just a rebranded Isuzu motor.

 

Do any of the big companies build their own diesels? Dodge uses Cummins and Fiat, not sure who Ford uses.

 

As of ?2010? Ford produces theirs in-house.

 

yeah but their v8's go forever. i take a lot of suburban and tahoe limo's for work and they always have 200+ on the clock

 

The 5.3 is a beast. Their 4.6 could use some help. It's under powered and loud for what it is.

 

The 6.0's a good motor. It's a thirsty SOB, but a solid hauler. I like the 5.3 as well but the 4.8 wasn't enough motor for the truck

 

Who cares how long it runs when the door handle fell off and you can't get into it.

Even if the 4.6 is a Ford motor.
But, it suffered the same problem

i'm pretty sure the guys on here wouldn't mind that discount...jus sayin...

 

Reading some of the reviews on the new 6.0, the issues seem to stem from the shifting strategy rather than the engine. The thing likes to hunt for gears while towing rather than downshift, keep the engine in the RPM sweet spot and hold it there. It keeps trying to upshift, then it slows way down, then downshifts twice, revs the shit out of the engine and repeats the cycle.

 

GF's dad has a 6.0 and it's a beast, but he's got an older model with the 4LE80 and you can shift it manually
