I could have sworn someone, if not more, here uses a URD CAI with their TRD supercharger.

I hope it does fit. With slight modifications, if any. Really leaning towards the urd

Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
The URD TCAI looks good for a strictly performance intake but in the real world I would not want that big suction at the front of the vehicle. Think hitting massive puddles under boost and imagine the motor taking in big gulps. You can put a pre filter over it but not sure on how effective that is.The AFE stage 2 si with a dry filter element seems to be the best, safest, and thoroughly tested of all the intakes. KnN should be avoided, along with any of the oiled filters. I know some do not have issues with oil but too many have. Or look at the poorly designed gen 2 TRD intake, designed by KnN but the piping is too narrow. The gen 1 TRD intake was designed by AFE and has been proven to make gains.
I think the stock intake is actually better than many of the so called cold air intakes. The stock is actually a cold air intake because it pulls ambient air from the wheel well. Many pull hot air from the engine bay.

I've always wondered about that with the URD CAI. I know a member here that has one and posted pics of him hitting puddles and water crossings (pretty deep ones), I asked him about that and he said he never even really thought about it, lol. But yeah it would freak me out too. I had an Injen CAI on my Scion tC a few years ago and whenever it rained hard enough, the motor would stall on me because the intake was picking up moisture. I wouldn't trust an air intake right in front of the vehicle either.

I'd be interested in seeing how a snorkel works in conjunction with a supercharger though, I know a couple guys on here are running a setup like that.

CAI intakes have been proven beneficial for F/I applications. I too would stay the hell away from any oiled filter.

Personally, I would not run a URD intake if it was given to me. I'm sure it has its benefits, but the design isn't adverse environment friendly and I don't like the idea of having to cut anything to make it fit IIRC. Perhaps for a race vehicle, or one that saw exclusively dry street, but otherwise no.

i love the URD intake. wouldnt trade it for any other set up. ALL the other intakes practically mount directly to the stock location.

my personal thoughts: i dont care if you wrap the filter in a box and call it a CAI, if im paying money to improve that particular function (CAI) im not going to dish out money to just bolt something in to the stock location because it has a cardboard box around it. it is still in the engine bay, the heat is all the same. sure the super duper secret box material may say it keeps majority of the heat out, regardless, due to physics, I dont believe them. the box is STILL surrounded by the same degree heat as the old one.

what science says: the URD intake is roughly 30 degrees cooler than the stock location, wit the added benefit of partial ram air effect. colder air + more of it= better performance.

Even some will tell me im wrong, thats fine, but i can rationalize the purchase more when the physics makes sense to me. yes i dont drive through puddles and I am cognizant of the intake at all times, but thats because I care about my equipment. to date, the URD has stopped me from going down 2 water crossings in 5 years, and never stopped me driving hwy/street.

If you want to spend money for a sound, go for the original stock location CAIs. If im putting money into something, I want it to be for something that makes a difference.

Having said all that, its totally your choice and whatever your prefer. I just wanted to provide a more indepth response to why I like it, other than "I like it" haha. do what you feel most comfortable with

I probably won't get around to installing until after December 4th.
I have a rifle match I am going to on Dec 2-4 and I don't want to rush install and then have something go wrong driving from LA to PHX.

    This is my primary rifle:
Its a custom action that has a Remington 700 foot print
    Chambered in 6x47 Lapua

My other rifle that I need to sell to pay for the S/C is this one and its chambered currently in 243 Winchester. It needs a new barrel on it though as the rounds barely fit in the magazine.
It also has a custom action with a Remington 700 foot print.
The scope on this one is a customized US Optics with a reticle some guys in our club designed.

Very nice my friend! I mostly stick to handguns now and just traded out for a Springfield XD-9. My new concealed carry toy!

I'm having to hard of a time removing the pulley. I don't want to ruin the threads. The Allen bolt that was provided with the urd install tool is already messed up. Just read a thread on the tundra forums where a member had one brake off and get stuck. A 150 part turned into a 900 repair. May just wait and have someone else install.

Lame. Might have to replace the MAF, sometimes they don't respond well to cleaning

When I first got my truck I had a P0171 code (system too lean bank 1) that wouldn't go away, turned out I had a vacuum leak on the supercharger from a port that was supposed to be capped (EGR port I think it was). Different supercharger but may be worth taking a look at if it happened after the install

I cleaned my MAF yesterday and have been driving all over the place last night and today with no CEL. I think my P0101 is resolved.

I still think I am having a fuel delivery issue. I can't do WOT. I get pinging. Normal driving is fine, including partial throttle "in boost" situations. During normal driving, the AFR is in a normal range but at WOT it goes lean.

I called Bully Dog today and they helped verify my tune was installed correctly. I also spoke with Gadget at URD today to inquire about the UCON for the newer models and he couldn't give a firm time frame but said maybe a month or two more of testing.

In the mean time, two of my Speedhut gauges came today. WOOT!
