    Truck stuff
I've had my 17 DCSB OR 4x4 Auto for 3 months and broke 8k miles last week. During the early miles, <1k it shifted a lot but kept improving the more I drove it. Around the time of my 5k service the Transmission TSB was done and that also seemed to reduce the down shifting. The TSB may not have actually improved that since that wasnt what the TSB was meant to fix but it sure seemed like it helped. I havent had any issues with the transmission shifting since.

I would go for 10% off MSRP. $2027 is just their starting point

Downgrade from 4.0 to 3.5, what you talking about? Have you tried the new 3.5?

Each is own personnal preference but what i can say is that i've trade my 06 for a 16, and i really like the 3.5 more than the 4.0.

How many miles were on it? The transmission learns your driving habits after a while. Took almost 800 miles for it to adapt to my style.

Really? I thought it was true cause I know when I take off my battery it has to "relearn" how to drive again.

I can only speak from personal experience. It sounds like you did not have a similar experience, but mine definitely "learned" my driving habits and drives a LOT better now.

Do you need to know, or care?
Baby the throttle and it will always shift a lot. It will try to maintain as close to 1000 RPM as possible to increase MPG. So if you are light on the throttle it will feel like it has a lack of power, especially around 30 - 40 MPH. When it starts to feel bogged down, you apply more gas and it will shift down a gear or two. When you ease up again, it shifts back up. Consequently, it feels like it's hunting gears. Try the ECT button to increase shift points, or be more aggressive on the gas.

At least that's my experience after 6K miles. Saying that, I haven't had the TSB done yet, so that may also help. Can't say I noticed any difference in what the tranny did after XXX miles. Feels the same to me since day one.

Go to KBB.COM and click to see what they say trade in value is, based on GOOD condition, and take off money for anything the truck needs, like tires, dents, etc. That will give you a decent idea of what it's worth. Run it by CarMax as well, and see what they say. That will give you a good idea. There is about $1600-$1700 markup over invoice in the truck you are looking at, so $2K off seems like a good deal, but they may take it back in the trade value. Unless the dealership is making money on the financing, trade in, or finance products, no one is taking five grand off a Tacoma. No one sells a high demand vehicle for a loss, and five grand off, would be a big loss, even figuring in dealer incentives, holdback, etc.

I would say give both dealers a chance to beat each other, and buy from the one that treats you right, and is honest, even if they are a little higher. To many times bad dealers are rewarded with the business, simply because the customer didn't want to start the process over again at another dealership. Bad dealers don't go away, if people keep giving them their money. My .02

I actually thought he started lemon law proceedings and his lawyer told him to knock off the interwebz posting.

well I had a 16 and only reason I sold was seat position I could not get to work and I am in it 700 mils a week. I had no issues with truck otherwise and really liked mine a lot. Had no tranny issues and it did fine for me. Im hoping they change seats to 10 way power and little bigger.
