At WOT I ping pretty bad, too (especially under high gear/low RPM circumstances, like freeway acceleration). Seems to be an issue that occurs on a truck by truck basis, some guys running these TRD/Magnuson superchargers never get pinging even at WOT while others do. The 7th injector will take care of it though, assuming the issue isn't related to anything else being abnormal. I'm currently saving up to get one myself.

Initially I was running the wrong spark plugs and when I swapped in the colder iridium ones the pinging got better, but it's still there under the right circumstances.

I really wish I would have had @TIM.TRDSparks install my pulley. This is getting real annoying. The Allen head bolt that came with the install tool is blown out. I got the pulley off but now I'm unable to remove the damn bolt from the shaft. Suggestions? Please no harsh comments. image.jpg

Yeah i remember reading that awhile back, it helped me feel a bit better that I wasnt experiencing something totally abnormal or that I didn't need to run out and get the 7th injector kit right away. Still saving up for it though in the future because the pinging is annoying when it's bad

Vice grip? You were using the install tool kit to remove the old pulley?

I've tried vice grip. Just don't know what to hold the shaft with out damaging it. The instructions say to insert bolt to hold centering pin from the pulley puller. And that's what I did.

Ahh I used a hex bolt. If you have a monkey strap wrench try that on the shaft and vise grip on the other side

You may need to drill the bolt out and clean out the threads with a tap.

I will probably go ahead and order one. Found a genuine toyota MAF on Amazon for $55. If it isnt the problem, probably worth it to keep in the garage just in case...
I will look into this, thanks.
I haven't even tried WOT. Mine feels like it "surges" at different rpms. Not sure if fuel delivery, tune, or if that is how it is supposed to be. I can tell you this though, I have driven a 2010 manual (same as mine) with the TRD SC, and it did not do that. It was smooth as silk. I have a buddy that lives close by. He just installed the Magnuson on his a few months back (he paid full price, hahahaha!) and he is not having any CELs and he says his does not do what I am describing. He used the bully dog to tune his as well so I am going to try to see if his tune is older than whatever I have. If it is, I will try using the tune that is on his SD card (his is a manual, so he should have the exact same tune as me). Maybe they made a change and screwed something up? I am just having a brain dump at this point.

Has anyone with the Magnuson successfully had the TRD reflash done? Just wondering if this is another avenue I should explore.

I feel better that I was able to get it out! Was discouraged for a bit. And regretting the supercharger.. The morale is up! Now to test my luck putting the new one on!

Just got mine today but going to sell it. I want my truck to last as long as possible and I know a supercharger is gonna kill the engine especially with my heavy foot

Your choice, but a supercharger isn't going to do anything to harm your engine. The heavy foot on the other hand....but that's true even without a supercharger.

I was very hesitant on having a supercharger when I first bought my truck (came with it). In fact, I initially wanted to dealership to remove it and put it back to stock before I agreed to buy it. After a lot of research into it though I've learned that they are perfectly safe and in some ways, even good for your motor if you drive normally (helps the engine breathe better). Of course, once you start putting the pedal to the floor all the time that becomes a different story, but again that's true for an N/A motor as well.

I've found it's really easy to drive normally even when boosted. After the novelty wears off you realize it's just a tool you have at your disposal to use when you need it. You don't have to boost around town all the time, if you drive conservatively when you want to you can easily keep it out of boost.
