My first bike was my dad's '79 Yamaha XS750. I pulled it out of the garage and stripped it down to a café build as much as I could. Dad asked what I was doing and I told him, "If it doesn't make the bike go faster, I don't need it." He laughed but always liked watching me wrench on stuff. Bike got handed over to my brother when I bought the sporty. He doesn't ride so it's been in storage at his place until "someday" gets here. Since I totaled the sporty, I might go back and rescue the 750 and do it over again.

Be careful driving thru Culver City if you have uncovered external lights (ie. lightbars). Driving down Venice blvd this morning, just past Sepulveda. Same motorcycle cop sitting in the empty lot, I drive by and, of course, he pulls out and races up to me. Pulls just past me to glance at my lightbar (which is covered now, after my $300 ticket from the same guy). I just smile and wave at him. He immediately turns around.

This guy has a grudge against lightbars, maybe they wronged him in the past.

    Does a clear cover count?

I would assume they need to be opaque, but they are covered. Haha. I have two 21" bars behind the grill and no issues with those. I guess they aren't considered external.

You're probably fine. I think because my lightbar stands out above the windshield. Easy target.
