5100's are 2nd generation spec. The truck is a third generation. See my pic.

Exactly ...and that's why we keep having these threads. Just makes it more confusing

So what's the problem, he asked a question about using OME coils and 5100s on a third gen which many have done here. Some guys with 2nd gens chimed in as up until recent the 5100s were 2nd gen exclusive but could be used on the 3rd gen until recent updated part with valving. I still don't see the issue, OP has a third gen, asked a question pertaining to a 3rd gen and posted in the 3rd gen section. Chill bud.

Anyway. It is a good combo. I'm not sure what the difference is other than the valving on the 3rd gen 5100's but I heard they have less down travel than the 2nd gen ones so I've heard some people still being recommended to use the 2nd gen ones anyway. I say for your set up go 886+2nd gen 5100. Just my .02

What shocks are you using with the stock springs (2nd or 3rd Gen 5100 Bilstiens). How's the ride compared to stock which I like. Tks

Now to make things even more interesting, if I read right I belive the 3rd gen 5100s 1st notch provides more compression on the spring (giving more lift) than the 2nd gen ones. So obviously the lift heights with ome springs will be different.

2nd generation. Ride is good. You hit a sharp bump and it doesn't dampen as much, but I like it. I need to get my 275's pressure right. I'm at 35 PSI but might turn back up to 50. 65 was too much.
