ReadyLIFT 2.75"-3"F/1"R Lift Kit

try not to go with spacers. 5100 from wheelers front and rear

I got Readylift spacers because it was one of the few options for my 5 lugger. But I will be switching them in January.

looking for something around that price puts you at either 5100's all the way around or ome 3" coils with aal rear. i have the ome and getting rid of it for something a little more costly haha but rode in 5100 all the way and wish i went that way first!

 

What's the downside to spacers??

its not just that but for that price theres other options

 

i just switched from a readylift spacer to 5100's. the ride was super harsh with the spacer, and the new shocks and springs remedied that problem. the link im including gives a good explanation of why spacers make the ride shit.

Ok so I know that spacer lifts such as toytecs are placed in the spring causing there to me more tension on the spring and less travel. But what I don't understand is why everyone blames readylift for a poor ride. The readylift system does not go in the spring but rather attaches to the top of the strut. So original spring tension and travel are not affected other then the driveline chatter you would get from any lift.

Old thread but to answer your question... the top plate spacers like readylift supposedly limit ur up travel and can cause over extension at full droop cause it pushes the whole coilover assembly down. and from what i understand can cause damage.

 

pretty much... since you are putting the spacer on top of the original strut assembly, you are essentially making the whole assembly longer than the amount of space between your upper and lower control arms...

during articulation, the shock will want to rebound to its full length, which has been increased by whatever size the spacer is... if its a 3 inch spacer, the rod will want to push completely out to full extension which is now 3 inches longer... the stress of that can damage and/or destroy your lower ball joints...

at one point, there used to be disclaimers on these kits saying that the kit is not intended for offroad use...

but if you are set on getting the lift since it fits your budget, then just do it... there are a few out there who have this kit and swear by it...

 

wouldn't a strut with a three inch lift still have the same extension problem?

not if its a preload coil spacer... since it sits inside the coil pack, the overall strut assembly length is not altered...

you do, however, lose downtravel as the spacer is pushing the coils down, thus pushing the rod down a few inches at neutral sitting height...

 

but a readylift does not sit inside the coil pack? so the only thing you miss out on with a readylift kit is the 3" of travel you could GAIN with new strut over your stock struts.
so after install with a ready lift you are left with the same travel as stock you just sit 3 " taller
PS: i dont do alot of off roading it is more for cosmedics. i would agree if you are off roading you would take advantage of the 3"up and down travel you could gain.
