I built houses for about 11 years where I worked as a "nailer" most of that time and my last framing job I was the "lead". I've done a couple of cabinets like the one in the pic. Bought my tools slowly over years time. When I broke my heel I read and read over again wood working books from my wheelchair, bought a table saw first, then router, biscuit joiner, router table and so on. Clamps and more clamps to leave on while the glue dries. It is a relaxing hobby. Routed my middle finger a little bit the other day with a cove bit, gotta be careful...........

I was the lead on this one, my last house before getting into electronics for a living.

I know right. I just put a pic up on the gruesome photo thread if my broken heel surgery and am looking for my hatchet in the leg pics.

I didn't take pics of the routered finger. I was using the router table and had my ear protection and safety glasses on.........When I turned the power off and the high speed high pitch sound wound down I began to wipe the sawdust off the table......Bad choice, it was still spinning some and my dumbass touched the bit. It looked like this )) since it was a cove bit haha. Thank god it wasnt under power. Made a chunk sound and then yer like, oh shit.......

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    Wow, $4400 for that?

That is a lot of tapers and geometry. The cantilever has is cut out for the stone. The lever section is probably held together with a dowel, likely the same for the top piece and legs.

Sounds like you might want to stay away from sharp objects for a while...

I actually got a reminder this weekend of why we wear safety glasses when we're working with power tools. I was ripping a length of oak on my table saw and the blade spit a carbide into my face. I felt it and thought that it was just a piece of sawdust or something, but when I was done ripping and I shut the saw down I realized that I was bleeding so I went inside to get cleaned up. When I looked in the mirror I saw the carbide sticking out of my cheek.

It's what I get for buying a cheap Craftsman dual purpose blade, I suppose.

Photo from today. It's healing nicely since I just got the cut on Sunday.

Ouch and damn I heard of this but never heard of a first hand account. I need remind myself to keep more to the side of the saw then I usually do. so the carbide just let go?

Yep. Never had it happen to me before either. I don't know if it was a faulty weld holding the carbide on, if it had been dropped or pinched & that had damaged it in transit, if I hit a knot that popped it loose, or what. I've always used carbide-tipped blades and never had one let go before (even when I've used them to cut things they're not supposed to cut), so I'm pretty confident that it was just a fluke. I brought it back to the Sears store and they gave me another one with no questions asked, and so far that one works just fine.

But, definitely a good reminder of why I wear safety glasses.

WOW glad your ok. safety glasses defiantly. I wear glasses all the time and have to remember to put on my safety glasses when I go into the shop.
I have worked in the shop for hours and then realized that I have my street glasses on.
