Don't know if anyone else thought of it but I also grabbed a 45 pack of paper plates. Should be enough. Only other thing is silverware.

I remember a few of talking CB radios... I may pick up a handheld unit tomorrow. Have we decided on a channel?

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
I can assist. It's simply a matter of getting the cable to the right length. The issue is that there is a wave of RF energy that reflects back from the antenna to the radio, and that is referred to as a stand wave. If the cable is the wrong length, the that reflection hits the ratio as a peak, and thus decreases the amount of power that can travel from the radio to the antenna. So you measure, and if out of spec, trim a small amount off of the cable, re-terminate, and measure again. Repeat until you reach the desired SWR (standing wave ratio).

    Here's a link: https://www.rightchannelradios.com/blogs/installation-guides/18330687-cb-antenna-tuning-instructions

EDIT: They talk about adjusting the antenna length in that link, but adjusting the cable length will achieve the same result. The length is antenna PLUS cable length.

I cant really trim my cable. Its already routed inside the truck. The tip of the antenna is tuneable

Has the same effect. But when trimming the cable, you are trimming it in like 1/8" increments.

Like I said, cold weather camping is my favorite, but with a view like this I can miss one trip.
Next one we need to schedule snow!
