It's probably a different scenario in the South, but up here if something has started to rust you can never get it to stop unless you cut out the bad steel and weld in fresh, and even then it's not a guaranteed fix.

One thing about Steve Jackson at LCD is that he doesn't hide anything. I was told that by allot of people when I started looking for a 70 and I found out that it's true. He spent time making sure I was aware of all of the trucks flaws so that there were no secrets. He also knows allot about old Toyota trucks so he shared allot of cool knowledge with me as well.

If you only wanted a diesel the engines are not hard to find and import, the problem then arises as to what are you going to transplant it into. A 1st gen 4Runner would make a good candidate but then you need to find one that's in good enough condition to make the swap worth it before having to invest a heap just to get the basics sorted.

If I got that Hilux I'd pull the bed and bolt up a tray with a slide off canopy like a Norweld or the like. Add a turbo with a mild boost setting and swap out the factory transfer case for an Atlas and after suspension I'd call it a day.

Ha, I do too but Houselhold 6 is in love with the 77 so I'd have to sell her on why I need another four door pickup.

This is my first one of these...what's protocol? Send it now and they open it on Xmas? Or send it closer to Xmas?

No protocol. You can do what you would like. Send now and specify they shouldn't open it but once it arrives it is kinda up to them if they open it or not. The only real protocol is to make sure it arrives before Christmas. After that, anything goes.

Better to ask what I have not done.
Depends on if your nice or not. If your nice wait tell closer. If you want to have a little fun send it now and make them wait.
