Why do you love your 3rd Gen?

There's a lot of Tacoma bashing that goes on around here and recently alot of people talking about why a Canyon is or may be better.

Here's why I love the Tacoma and why it was the truck I chose.

1. Quicksand
2. Composite bed
3. The technology in the interior.
4. Wireless phone charging.
5. Aftermarket product support.
5. Power outlet in the bed
6. Locker and crawl control
7. LED running lights.

IMO Toyota has not sat idle while assuming they had a lock on the midsized US truck market. The 3rd Gen taco is stuffed with features and advanced technology.

Right?

The suspension and its aftermarket support. Also that it options a manual.

Manual trans and I can whip it through the mountains like a car.

1, 2, 3, 5 - yup! (only those because I have an SR5)

I thought these were so silly when I bought the truck... but it's been cool and humid as all get out the past few mornings and these things rock!

Also the easy down tailgate is pretty handy!

 

Those are sweet. My lowly SR5 has them. They will dry up the dew in short order.

 

A lot of the above, plus the steering wheel feels great.

Not a lot of tacos in Indiana. In the last few months of ownership I have not seen another third generation black double cab long bed. I think people think they are too expensive. I feel like I'm driving a luxury sport truck. I lost track of how many people told me "nice truck".

 

Trucks are just expensive these days. Whe . I saw my first third gen last year I loved it. Looked up the price on Toyotas website and was blown away

I paid less for my 2500 ram!

But eventually I warmed up to the Idea and bit the bullet

 

Aftermarket parts! It's like working on a Honda! Parts are available and affordable!

 

-It's not 22 years old and rusty like my old truck
-More cab space, relatively speaking
-Composite bed
-New E-brake design
-SR cost is low
-Reliable drivetrain
-Fuel economy is the same as my old truck, even though it's much larger

 

Because it is the color of cement and nothing else on the road looks like it.

 

SO true, folks need to realize this

 

We bought ours for durability. Time will tell.

 

1. Bad-Ass new Front-end and Tailgate design for Gen-3.
2. Quicksand Paint color.
3. Lots of aftermarket upgrades available.
4. SR5 Factory wheels look great.
5. Gave up on waiting for a new Jeep pickup !!!
