If you don't want to get screwed on a group buy, make sure it is actually done through a vendor, NOT an individual person. I see quite a few that people set up WITH the vendor, so they are just kinda like a TW secret agent asking for members to get a discount. Seems the ones going through a individual person doing a mass buy, have a history of going to shit. Of course, if you are so worried about saving $30 and supporting a TW member and paying via PayPal friends and Family(where you cannot file a claim if you get screwed), not a business, too bad for you, that's the chance you took.
I think it's great when a person gets a vendor to offer a 20% discount to members, but allowing a person to do a large group purchase and relying on that person to distribute the product to buyers just seems silly?

Perfect example, most of his are setup through a legitimate business/supplier. You don't pay him.

Most group buys on TW are done through a vendor and such. There are the rare occasion where someone sets up a bulk buy and asks for people to pay them usually it is a very reputable person people trust. Most of the time those are done through someone that has worked on a group buy before and know what they are doing. If you don't like waiting for something coming from another country and being held up in transit and customs then spend the extra money don't do group buys and buy American made. Otherwise be patient like everybody else in your group buy and your shit will get there when it gets there. Not the person that is running the group buys fault that shipment took longer than they anticipated and all this bitching belongs in the third gen section. Making a pointless thread about a group buy that appears to be falling through even though it's clearly not.

Nice try, but I am not any part of a group buy of any concern. My comment is just simply an observation of people losing their money or getting screwed from a group buy.
BTW, it's funny when people say "buy american" on a forum of Japanese vehicles? I'm sure you'll say it's made in America, but it is assembled in America with mostly Japanese parts, so I wouldn't classify that as "American made" by any means.

Considering its actually assembled in America makes it American made. Just because the parts are Japanese it is actually made in America giving Americans jobs and Americans put their blood sweat and tears getting these trucks on the road for other Americans to buy. If it's assembled in America I'm pretty sure that means it's made in America. I'm sorry every other brand has outsourcing and has their trucks made all over the world. I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything you voiced your opinion so I voiced mine. This thread seems to be the result of a group buy that is on going that everyone is losing their mind over for no reason all because the shipment is taking longer than its supposed to that is all. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers or put sand in your vagina it is the Internet and I thought we were 2 grown ups telling eachother about our opinions didn't know your feelings would get hurt over an Internet opinion. I sincerely apologize I hope we can still be friends:cheers:

So using the logic mentioned above. I go to Ikea and buy a piece of furniture and I assemble it at home, it's Ok for me to tell everyone I made it?

I'd say so. Even though not the most amazing fear in the world but yes you did build your piece of furniture. It didn't build itself and it wasn't built when you bought it so who else would have built it

Haha, whatever dude. I assembled it, didn't "build" it. Just like the Toyota window stickers say, "Assembled in the U.S.A." , not built.

No, because you don't work for IKEA. My truck was assembled at the NUMMI plant in Fremont. About 40 miles from my house. I toured the facility, before ever owning a Tacoma, because my former employer set it up. There were good people with great attitudes working there. Pay was decent, and many local manufacturers supplied the parts. Although they shut down operations, Tesla now resides there. My mechanical engineering buddy works there and they employ several TW members.

I am on the snorkel group buy thread, which you're banned from posting to, and am confident that I will get my snorkel or money back. The other 66 people are not suckers, as you make us out to be. The first group got their snorkels and we based the GB participation on that history.

In conclusion, you're a fucking troll and GTFO of TW.

It's absolutely American made. The factories for the Tacoma are in Texas which is in america where they are assembled. Im sll for everyone having their opinions but there is no arguing facts which clearly you did not bother to learn man. No offense to you but Tacoma are american made, yes they are Japanese owned and designed, but by technicality toyota is the most American automotive brand as it uses the most American made parts. Get your facts right sir.
    I second this

Since John can't say it and I can, @gottaToy learn your facts & don't start random rants acting like the stereotypical 3rd gen owner.

Go to Edmunds and various other sources. No automobile or truck tiday is 100% purely American mined, forged, refined, molded, engineered, designed, machined, formed, and assembled in the US. The Tacoma ranks high on the list of US trucks where a high percentage of dollars of input go to US workers and companies.

But back to the topic. The percentage of group buys where people get screwed is very small. I would guess it's about the same for "pay the vendor" and "pay a middle man" buys.

Unsure about the other models as I haven't looked into every model, but the Tacoma production was moved into Texas as of a few years ago

I never referenced any group buy specifically, there has been several over the years that didn't pan out. It's bullshit anyone would try and pull a fast one and take peoples money and not deliver/or dick around forever. guess maybe you just feel guilty?
As for THAT GB, I hope it gets settled, but the lack of communication isn't looking to good. Well, hope it's settled for everyone but you, cause you are an asshole.
