Hrm.. I'm wondering if the '07 Taco was recalled for more than just the mats holding the pedal down. In 3 different instances, my pedal has stuck with and without mats in the vehicle. 2 times on the freeway, one time going into a grocery store parking lot.

I found the best way not to get it to stick is not to stomp on the gas; that typically gets mine stuck. The two on the freeway I was able to disengage within a few seconds. The time I was cruising into a parking lot, I almost took out 1 car, turned the key off while braking, then to stop faster, shoved it into park. Talk about wear and tear!

Who else here has had these issues Toyota can't seem to figure out?

That sounds pretty scary. I've never had any issues with my pedal. I have weathertech mats, and I manage to fight my urge to slam the pedal to the floor.

Can't you just put the truck in N and then brake? I know it's not the best idea, but it seems to be the most efficient way to stop... Perhaps I'm missing something...

06 Tacoma with all weather floor mats, never had one issue with the pedal sticking. But yes putting the car in Neutral would be your best option. You would still have the power brakes and steering to help control the car till it came to a stop. My sister has an 09 Toyota Matrix and I asked her since her car was recalled what she would do if her accelerator got stuck and she honestly said she really didn't know what to do and after she thought about it she said that maybe the E-brake. I instructed her that in the event it does get stuck to just put the car and Neutral and pull over and call the dealer. Asap. I also asked the people I work with what they would do if there accelerator got stuck. And most of them said they wouldn't know what to do other than hitting the brakes. I guess if you really aren't that into cars or have much knowledge of cars you might not know what to do if your accerator got stuck. To me its a no brainer, but now I can understand people freaking out and not knowing what to do.

Interesting. I think I might start asking my friends the same question. Good points.

I'm most concerned about how the whole problem will effect the value of my truck should I decide to sell it some day. I can't imagine this would be a problem that's helping my vehicle value. LOL.

Hopefully Toyota will inform the public well enough through marketing and press conferences once all of this is over. They should run a campaign offering incentives to the hesitant buyers helping to increase the value of Toyota again.

Time will tell... Just hope for the best.

I believe they are not a part of the 8 "do not sell cars and trucks" but are apart of the recall.

I dont know if I would have slamed on the gas pedal when I noticed it was getting stuck, but it worked for.

Last year when this happened to that off duty policeman i went home and quizzed my wife and motherinlaw. neither of them knew what to do. it is definitely knowledge some of us take for granted that people would just know but then you stop and remember....ther is people out there that dont know what a muffler is or that you have to change your oil. they think you buy a vehicle and put gas in it and it will go forever!

Hopefully we all learn a lesson and do a "check on learning" with our family and friends when it comes to the things we think are just "common sense". I know i learned that lesson out of all of this. I wil be sure to teach my children these things too:)

I talked to toyota the other day and the tacomas are not on any recall list except the floormat recall and that is it. the tacoma pedals are made by a different company then the recall pedals are made

My '07 stuck on me when I was wheeling. I stomped on the accelerator for a second or two and then it stuck. Not really sure if it was a mat related issue or not. I did not have the hooks in at the time.

Interesting. Obviously, you should be bringing it in for service.

Recall for what? If you're talking about the floor mat issue, that's not what the OP is talking about.
