It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
OK. But I'm willing, assuming you have everything mounted. The grounding and placement of the antenna is prone to affecting SWR. Causes a "ground plane" which affects the SWR as well.

But having a non-optimally-tuned SWR will not damage the radio, (unless you are talking about transmitters with WAY more power than a CB) it will simply reduce the amount of power that makes it to the antenna, which is manifested by shortening the distance in which the radio transmission is effective, and doesn't affect the reception at all. So you'd be fine to use it as is, it just may not work as well as it is capable of. In fact, that is exactly how you can get away with a magnetic antenna mount (which my brother will be bringing for us to use) and moving it between vehicles.

OK. Enough RF theory for one evening! See you Saturday! I'm so freeking stoked!

So if you have an SWR meter, the link I posted this afternoon will walk you right through especially if was written for an adjustable antenna. Again, you can't "break" anything. That said, I'll PM you my cell number, and feel free to give me a ring tomorrow.

So, are you asking me to assist at 5? At Inova? That's sorta far for me, given what I need to get done, but Ashburn on the other hand is only 1/2 as far.

I have a 3' piece of this that could be bent and made into something for a mount, probably, depending on the antenna.
