If I am ever forced to valet, I give the valet $20, and say I will park my own car. They are usually very happy with that.

YOU are a trouble maker :D
You realize we are LESS than 5% of the total Tacoma population?

On this forum we are less than 1%

So far not unhappy with my choice going with the auto. I have been driving manuals from day one since learning how to drive!!! Actually this is my first auto tranny vehicle I have owned. Yes, my 14 Taco with the man was fun to drive, but pulling a boat(backing it up long inclined driveway was a pain in the ass...clutch slipping nightmare). At the rate I was going I would have been going thru clutches frequently! Don't know about the gen 3, but the 14 had some notchy shifting every so often as well. For this older guy, the auto is a better choice, but having the man option for you diehards is a nice thing.

I bet the third generation is the last of the manual tradition for Toyota. if so it will be a shame.

Never have been wealthy enough to own a boat. However, I can imagine the pain of backing it up with manual.

I saw the other day a Ford F150 with some kind of auto towing thing. Man that kid made backing up look easy.

    Yes manuals are great.

You know what's not great? Trying to find a dealer willing to sell you a TRD Bro without the added 5k idiot tax.

I can't circlejerk about manuals if I don't have a chance to buy the car! :rain:

The only good part about buying a Tacoma in Germany.. Auto's are special orders for "American Drivers"... they just don't carry them on the lots over here. MT-FTW

I would've bought an MT taco if I weren't scheduled for knee surgery later that year. The idea of not being able to drive my new truck was way more painful than that of giving up a stick for a slush box.

There's been a lot of talk on this forum about how the automatic trannies in our 2nd Gens are designed for use with the 4runner's v8 and is overbuilt and bulletproof for the tacomas. I expect over the service life of our trucks, say 300k miles over 15 years, the cost differences will be a wash. If I have expensive work to be done to mine once in that time frame I'm ok with that.

I will park my own car, and I am not paying some one to do that either.

If this is the case, I sure hope they got the frame rust issue taken care of, I will drive a manual as long as possible

How many vehicles you own? Shit by reading some of your posts, I thought you wiped with 100s

And my 6 speed manual has not needed the reprograming, nor does it need to learn how to shift for my driving.

And this auto better MPGs over a manual, I can see under prime conditions, but I tend to believe that if you are driving properly you can get pretty dam close to the same, not this 3 less crap.
