just looking for some input from others if its worth doing, any pro's con's, what people think after having them installed after a while, i been looking at simple https://www.carid.com/toyota-grill/ and customcargrills.com, and seen another one around, was curious if anyone used any of them and what they think, i dont think i want to do plastic paint as sounds like its not best option anyway.

Yea I just bought the mesh grille, my bezel was already black so all I had to do was glue the grill to the bezel and that's it.

EDIT: if you have a chrome bezel just get one can of plasti dip and spray the bezel. Super easy

No issues yet... I've had it for about 2 months. I did buy the logo separate although customcargrilles does sell the grill with the logo already on if you wanted.

I think there was another member on this forum that had the same grille and just got into a really bad head on accident and the grille is still attached and in one piece the rest of the front end was destroyed.

How did that happen? Looks like a pretty big rock hit it? Wonder if that grill wasn't there what it woulda done to the radiator etc... with normal grill.

    HWY driving.
    Didn't even hear it.
Mind you my roof rack is pretty loud :anonymous:

Just glad it hit my cheap grille and not headlight or paint.

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of this picture below. I bought that one back from the owner, as well as one that hit a buzzard on the highway (2nd time the owner had hit one with his new truck). Hopefully I'll make a video about those soon.

    -------

As for the mesh durability, there's a lot of factors at play. In short, we chose to go with the thickest mesh we could get manufactured that would be rust free. A stainless version of the same mesh would be 1/2 as thick, and more expensive. A carbon steel would also be much thinner as well and would rust out, but would be cheaper. The mesh will dent up over time regardless of which metal we went with, it's just the nature of the product as it rests vertically going down the highway @ 70mph.

Yup that's the one! Just very glad the driver and everyone else was ok after this! But that shows the durability of the grill! I mean look at the picture, stock grill seems like it would of broke for sure but, the customcargrilles grill is still solid!

Not my intention to point out its an inferior product, quite the opposite! Great design and definitely quality and durable. No doubt a good size rock will put a dent in it going HWY speed.
Still love it! intend to try and fix and hopefully good as new!

I didn't take it as such. Also, I did hope to make a video soon on how to work out dents just like yours. No eta on it yet, but it is on the to-do list. It looks like you might have got the flat black one, and if that is the case then the powder coat likely cracked in that area. The gloss black is a little more forgiving on those impacts but still run the risk of breaking as well. Just keep an eye on the finish to make sure it's not coming up in that area.

I look forward to the video, if I don't fix it 1st.
I actually purchased it raw and had a local company do a gloss "spartan bronze"
It has a tiny chip that I hope doesn't flake when I hammer it back.
PM me when you get a video together please!
