The OP does, it's his thread not yours. You choosing to ignore facts and recommendations provided by the tire manufacturers doesn't help or inform anyone here.

The reality is, you are just arguing for the sake of arguing, trying to win an unwinnable argument, because you either trolling or simply can't handle it, perhaps even bored. You are convinced of your own bias.

Either way Tacoma World has the REAL information regardless of what you post. I'll leave it at that, I see no benefit in continuing/enabling this childish behavior.

I've worked on 10's of thousands of vehicles, sold tires, mounted tires. Pretty sure I have a pretty good idea of what tire pressure needs to be in a given vehicle.

The manufacturer recommendation on the sidewalk is max load psi.

Does op constantly have a max load in his truck?!?

    Didn't think so... :anonymous:

We aren't talking about the max psi on the sidewall. The max psi on the sidewall is 80psi (on my example LT tire)...We are talking about what is the RECOMMENDED psi that the TIRE manufacturer RECOMMENDS, based on tire TYPE and vehicle TYPE

it's like talking to a brick. lol. I posted the spec for a truck equipped with 10-ply's but apparently that's not correct either.

Where would I obtain the recommended psi other than max load?

Joe, could you please explain to everyone why a load E tires needs more air than a P-tire? Same size, same load on the truck. Surface area is surface area, not to mention E-load is stiffer.

Contact the manufacturer of the tire, eg michilen, BF Goodrich, GoodYear, etc. Ask them for the recommended psi based on your specific tire and vehicle. I posted the number in earlier comments.

BF Goodrich and Michelin, recommend 30psi for their passenger tire for the Tacoma and 50psi for their LT tires.

That's your answer. Stiffer tires require more air pressure to optimize inflation.

Imagine blowing up a baloon, it requires pressure to inflate. stiffen the balloon and make it stronger, it requires significantly more air pressure to inflate.

This is why for example 10k Forlift tires are inflated to 110+ psi.

BFG Goodrish and Michelin explained that in order to meet the same load/weight rating as a lower ply tire you need more air pressure.

Stock Tire requires 30psi to meet 2326lbs
LT Trie requires 50psi to meet 2335lbs

why do they wear even at lower pressures? and wear the center out at your 50+ recommendation?

How about the chalk test that is the best way to insure tire wear will be even?

Anyone behind a desk can tell you something based on stock weight and specs...

Without empirical evidence, they don't. All my tires are inflated to manufacturer recs and they wear even.

    Ya chalk test is good.

This is the point you miss. BFG Goodrich and Michelin explained that in order to meet the same load/weight rating as a lower ply tire you need more air pressure.

Stock Tire requires 30psi to meet 2326lbs
LT Trie requires 50psi to meet 2335lbs

Sorry, I'll take the word of the guys who make the tire over some random person on the internet or some generic door plate that has no idea what type of tires I'm running.

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
Running e ko2s at 35psi will wear on the outsides. thats the point. running 35 psi on them would be like running 25 on stock OR tires

Actually, metric tires are derated by a factor of at least 1.1; Toyota seems to derate them by a factor of 1.4.
    2,362/1.1=2,147

I believe you are mistaken about 2,362 lbs at 30 PSI anyway. It should be 2,149 at 30 PSI(metric)which translates to 1,954 lbs LT. Actual PSI of said LT would depend on size.

That is interesting I didn't know that.

It's 2326 not 2362(you have it backwards but may not matter) but both manufacturers stated that 2326 was OEM. So I'don't know where they got that number but they said the specific psi for LT tires is determined by meeting or exceed the load raiting of the stock tire. 50psi in a LT tire 2335 which was the first rating the meet/exceeded 2326. Assuming that the actual number is lower (not 2326) we can assume the psi will be different but I can't imagine it being drastic.
