As a boat guy you should know how to solve the frame rust issue... but in case you need a hint:

It comes in non-aerosol gallon jugs too if you have an airless sprayer to apply it with.

If I had the choice of a 6mt in the dclbtrdor I would have went with it. Needed the dclb so I'm stuck with the auto. Last two trucks were mt 4x4 and I never needed crawl control for anything. That being said it is kind of cool if you ever try it out on some real gnarly trail. Works great.

I am getting over 20MPG on my OR/MT... I don't think I have seen an OR Auto getting 23MPG. I think it all about how one drives, and much less about the MT vs Auto. Looking at Fuelly, it looks like in the V6 21 is about tops.

I can regularly get 23-24 average in my dclbtrdor 4x4 auto. I do drive like gramps but I can make it happen.

Interesting. I wonder how mine would change if I drove like a gramps... I do find that when I go to work in the early morning and can just cruse at a specific speed I get up to 23 or so, but that doesn't happen often. And I like accelerating pretty quick after a stop :D

The 3G Tacoma with the auto is a total disaster (as Trump might say). It really holds the engine back. While the 3.5 lacks low end torque the manual at least makes up for some of it by having a lower overall 1st gear. I've driven both a handful of times and would pick the manual any day over the auto but no manual in the DCLB config.
True off-roading should be with a manual. I drive a 2013 DCLB Sport with Auto and would have much preferred a manual.

If you drive 40MPH constantly all day, i think even 27 MPG is achievable :D

    I do 80-85.

Once in a while I'll take a seaside drive (what I call my mileage loop) of about 60 KM. Last time my average was 8.2L/100 km, according to the truck's calculation. Now, this is totally gramp mode with no extra load on the engine (ie AC, defrost etc etc), back roads at no more than 80km/h - gotta keep the RPMs below 2K. DD average is anywhere between 10.5 and 11.5L/100km.

Highway driving with the MT is a different story. Best I've done is 10.5L/100km over about 300km. And that's keeping the speed at 100-105 km/h (2100-2200 RPM). Anything faster, and the mileage really begins to drop.

Yea I would agree with you, but from time to time I do the math at the pump and it's never been of by more then 1/10th of a mile.

Interesting, sounds like you got a good one then.

I use an app, and hand calculation at every fill up. My Tacoma computer is off by 2MPG consistently. Some of my luxury cars off by 3-6MPG as well.

In the end, who cares though? I love my 2013 with auto. It's a pleasure to drive. My next project car will no doubt have a manual so I can get my manual fix.
