I still have no idea how this guy is getting $8500 off a Colorado. Around here the best you can get is maybe $3000. You might have to blow someone to get that too.

It's true. However keep in mind that the "torquey" feeling of that engine wears off. It's mostly familiar noise. Like I said I know someone who has one. It's slow compared to a stock full size Diesel, and you'll notice on freeway ramps or anywhere else you need acceleration. Her hubby is waiting for the company he likes to release a good tune and EGR delete kit for it, if it ever comes.

Your telling me that Australia, and Europe don't have that technology ?? True the old diesels are terrible, just watch any old Ford Diesel take off on a green light but the the new technology is out there.

I thought it was B.S. at first. Had them send me a buyers order for my C.U. and it's legit. GM has a tag bonus rebate of $4,495 on the truck, so that's half of it. Not sure how they are getting the rest off. I work for a leasing company, and none of my dealers will sell one that cheap.

Question: if I took a Tacoma to a chevy dealer for trade in they would give me a good amount?
But if I took a chevy to a chevy dealer for trade I probably wouldn't get a good amount?

If this is true, doesn't it make you wonder.

I can tell you my diesel will lay rubber off the line. it has a very small lag and I mean small lag. After I passed over 10000 miles it seemed to have really started less lag and more power. Might be in my head but don't think so. It runs better on hyw than my 16 Tacoma as far as passing and running smoother at 70 to 80. Plus when I am at 75 I still get 30 mpg hyw. It is unreal. As far as worried about the diesel I would not. I run a trucking company and have for years and although there may be a issue hear and there I think for the long run will not be that big of deal. I can say my Tundra had a few issues but so does the 16 Tacoma. They can all have something. I know if you like a smooth running engine and trans this is smooth set up and if mpg is what you like I can tell you all hyw between work at 70 mpg I set cruise for my 40 miles and I get 33 to 34 daily.

I've had three diesel sedans and definatley preferred them to their gas counterparts. It had plenty of power for me. The Tacoma isn't exactly a speed demon. At 75, the diesel felt like it had more power, because it didn;t have to downshift two gears to speed up 5 miles per hour.

Again I may trade for the zr2 diesel and get my off road fun back. I loved my 16 Tacoma off road. Might just get one of those and keep my Colorado and fix the taco up just off road for weekend fun. Like you said it looks better

The Diesel won't shift because there isn't any point. No RPM range to match gearing at that speed. It's the same on the full sizes. You can't have 5000 rpm on that engine :).

I'm just passing this along. The person who owns the Diesel Coli has a few Duramax trucks, and I mean the real thing, for work and they complain that the Coli feels and is slower in a pinch.

This dealer said they have a Toyota store, and will be sending the truck there. My own company appraised my truck for three grand less. It's all about opinions, and if the Sales Manager really needs to see something that day. Someone will pay $35K for it with the lift.

    Montana gas prices right now:

    Diesel $2.34 - $2.39

    Premium $2.59

    Regular (85.5 or 87) $2.19 - $2.25

So let's say there's roughly a $0.20 difference between diesel and regular 87 gas.

    The Tacoma has a 21.1 Gallon Fuel Tank ($2.19/gallon * 21.1 = $46.21 per tank)
The GMC Canyon 2.8L Diesel has a 21 Gallon Fuel Tank ($2.34 = $49.14 per tank)

Basically they are equal that way. So it should be pretty simple to compare fuel cost vs fuel economy = total cost to drive. If you can really achieve 26MPG with the Diesel Canyon versus your 15 MPG on the Tacoma it would be a considerable difference. Granted we're comparing MPGs on a modified truck versus one that's completely stock (and assuming the 26MPG is even accurate).

    @maypearl

BTW - MSRP in the car world is worthless. No one - ever - pays - MSRP.

Well you know what they say, if its too good to be true. But then again, maybe they are just punting it.

If you couldnt reach the stated MPG with the Taco, do you really think you will get the stated MPG on another truck that noticeably slower?

He's not. They are claiming he's getting $8,899 off the magical MSRP price.

Thinking the minute he hits them up , they will say oh sorry that was a typo. If that is the case and lets say he only gets 4K off, then the switch out of the Taco will be that more difficult financially.

The MPG rating on the GM is 29, and I'm not expecting to get that. All I know, is every person I have spoken to says they get 26. Fuelly rates the Tacoma at 16, and the GM at 26. It's not a stretch to think a mid sized diesel can get 25, when full sized can get 20 plus. Not a single person has told me their diesel gets less than 25. There are tons of people on here getting similar mileage that I'm getting in their Taoma's. I wont be getting a lift on the Canyon.

Thats about the average I have found. At the moment Ford is taking $12,000 off their F-150s. Even I got about $4,000 off my Tacoma.

That's exactly why I had the send me the buyers order, with all the numbers and detail. May even have them FedEx the paperwork to me before I drive 5 hours. I agree it's a hard to believe price, but so far it looks legit.

I'm not sure what you mean by magical MSRP. I'm not paying MSRP, so it's the only way to judge how good of a deal you are getting. The dealers don't just make up an MSRP out of thin air.

I dove it's twin last night at a local dealership. A deal isn't binding until you take delivery of the vehicle you are buying, so I'm covered if I get there and it's riddled with hail or something. But, yes, I'll drive it first and look it over to make sure it's all good.
