Considering trading my Turd gen in on a 2nd gen pro

    Idk if that would work in your favor to sell it private party. In my state you only pay the taxes on the difference of the trade in to new car value, so if you sold it on your own you may have to pay the full price for taxes. As much as I hate trading a car in, in New York with 8.75% it usually doesn't make sense to sell it on my own.

    This is how it is in pa. You really have to have a large profit on the sale to counter the tax you pay on the new vehicle if you don't trade.

    We just traded in my wife's crosstrek and we would have had to sell it for 2k more than they offered which would have been at the top of private party value. Just not worth the time and effort, but for some t might be.
