It's a newer version of the 2.8 diesel jeep used a few years ago. It's designed by VM Matori and built in Thailand.

I don't think peoples feelings are hurt. For me your logic is hazy. I have DCSB TRD OR which has the worst reported mpgs of all the models and I average 19. Using the site below the Tacoma averaged 18 and the Canyon averages 23. Taking current gas prices into consideration at 15,000 miles a year 55% in traffic for both the difference was $750 dollars a year or about $62 a month. Will take several years to recover your losses in mpgs alone. You will get long term mpg gain but will take about 6 years before any real ROI

    http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find.do?action=sbs&id=37988&id=38393&#tab1

Get it because its what you want but don't tell me its financially more sound due to mpg savings.

That will be a great truck for you OP. I have a 2016 Sierra and it has been completely trouble free. The build quality is great. And my 6.2L gets a realistic 18/22 mpg.

Are you familiar with the form?
    http://coloradofans.com/
This is probably the biggest & most active forum for the Colorado & Canyon that I've seen. Not nearly as many people or posts as this forum - so information is limited. There are a lot of guys on there who own the Diesels and would have lots of feedback. Like anything else....there are probably just as many complaints about them as there are complaints about the 3rd gen tacoma.

And if any of those 'fanboys' give you a hard time - let me know. I'm not afraid play defense on both sides of the coin. And yes, I'm Janster over there also. :)

That 6.2 is an awesome engine. Especially with the 8 spd auto.

Yep...wrong place to come and ask about a Chevy. I won't own another Chevy...which kinda colors my opinion towards Colorados. But life is short. Drive what you want.

So much better than the 6.2 with 6 speed I had before. The thing will just about snap your neck if you're not careful. For a big crew cab truck it gets up and goes. Pulls 10k pounds like nothing too.

Maybe, but I'm also tired of fighting the thing on the highway. I fought it before the lift, and are still fighting it. I didn't realize how bad it was, until I drove a truck that has a smooth powertrain. The lost money on the lift doesn't matter, because I'd be taking it off anyway and spending even more money to go back to smaller tires. The diesel is just more enjoyable to drive. I'm fine with the $2500 loss in the lift and license fees. If I could have gotten $8900 off on the GM when I bought the Tacoma, I would be driving a Canyon right now. At the end of the day, it's $60 a month more to drive a truck with better mileage, that has much more equipment.

I had an 05 Silverado with a 5.3 V8, and a Joe Gibbs supercharger, I recently sold. It was a blast to drive, and got better mileage than the Tacoma with the same guy driving it. Apples to Oranges I know, but that was an awesome truck. Not good for fencework in the mud though.

Yes, that's there I went to look at the diesel. When I asked on the diesel forum, for people that have 20K or more miles on their trucks, how the liked them, everyone seemed to love them, and claimed to get over 24 combined. I didn't see a pattern of issues related to the diesel. My handle is the same on there as here.

So many people purchase a vehicle without any research and NOW want to find out shit from people that do research. Whats that about. There is plenty of sites to go to to talk about GM products with people that own them now.

Yea the 6.2 is a great motor but I'm not sure I would do it again in a truck, don't get me wrong I liked the power but it's really only noticable when you give it some serious gas. I think the 5.3 is pretty much the same drive unless your pushing it hard all the time. The only thing I could truly say is worth the extra money in the Denali is the magnetic ride. Had that in my Cadillac and it is far superior than anything on the market.

A lot of companies did take bailout monies. GM paid some of it back but got a large amount of it waved by the Obama administration. And hell yes I will hold onto the past, fuck me over and I will not forget it. I have family members that work at GM and I could take advantage of some very good discounts on vehicles but will never own another GM product.

Correct, but they have their own fanboys. I was looking to see if anyone on here maybe traded their GM twin for a Tacoma, or had a friend with one. Looking for input from both sides, because I doubt I will be able to trade out of the GM and not get hurt.

I probably wouldn't get it again either. I don't rip it much. It's a truck, not a corvette. I haven't driven a 5.3 with the 8 speed but I'm sure it would be just fine for me. I got the 6.2 again because that's what my old Denali had and I wanted to make sure it would tow well. The magnetic ride is amazing too. It levels out heavy loads and gets rid of the bouncy ride with a trailer.

This is stop light driving in the city. And I don't grandpa drive but I don't rev limit it either. The 8 speed shifts around 2500 rpm pretty consistently.

The GM discounts are nice, but the price I am buy it at, is less than the GM employee price. I'm not bragging, but big companies really don't care about their employees for the most part. I would give that edge to Japanese companies. I shouldn't be able to buy a GM product cheaper than their own employees can. If Ford had a truck that was comparable truck, I'd be looking at that.
