I see the Ford Rangers here in the Middle East and they hold up very well. Hopefully they will bring it back to the US like they say their going to. It would be a nice option.

The ranger and Bronco have been confirmed to be returning to the US. I'm guessing 2 years away.

That magnetic ride control is awesome. Even Ferrari bought it from Delphi, although they use their own control module.

MSRP is just that... Made-Up Suggested Retail Price. It's not a real number. Someone in marketing decided to tack on a percentage on top of what it cost to build the truck and they call that the MSRP - which no dealer in America actually sells the truck at anymore.

If you say your "MSRP" is $50k in order to tell a customer they're getting a screaming deal at $42k that doesn't mean they are actually getting a good deal. That's why I'm saying it "magical".

What would make this a great deal is if no other dealer is willing to sell you the same truck at the same low price. Then it's a great deal.

    Yep. Magic.

GM & Dodge love giving "Up to $10k in incentives right now" all the time. Why? Because they charge too damn much, inflate MSRP's, etc.

Sorry but I'm a salesman by trade. I know how this crap works. You can't "dicker" unless you're priced too high to begin with.

I get your point somewhat, but how else are you to evaluate pricing between dealerships? Every vehicle in the US with the same equipment, has the same window sticker. Federal law. If two Camaro's have the same exact equipment, their MSRP's are exactly the same. It levels the playing field, and gives the buyer a baseline to work from. X dealer is selling for $3000 off the window sticker price, and Y dealer is selling his for $4000. Since both trucks have the same window sticker and equipment, dealer Y is giving the better price.

Forget MSRP. If they have the same equipment all that matters is who's willing to sell it to you the cheapest. That's how you know you're getting a "deal". My point is the MSRP is a magical, made up, bullshit number to begin with. Dealers used to sell at MSRP many years ago. They don't anymore. Now they advertise "Low Price, No Haggle Pricing" and claim to sell all their vehicles "At Invoice", or whatever verbiage they use now.

The only way to get the best deal possible is to find a dealer who's willing to sell you the same package for less money than any other dealer. All that matters is your our the door price. My whole point is stop believing you're saving $8,500 because you're not.

You seem a little bitter. If the MSRP is the same on two trucks, they have the same equipment. If one dealer is selling it for 8900 off and one for 6000 off, the 8900 off MSRP will be the lower price by definition. Exactly 2900 lower. Dealers play games and so do manufacturers, but the best way to compare a price is look at the manufacturer MSRP, the dealership discount off that number, and the out the door price. The truth lies somewhere between the MSRP is useless, and it's the only number to be concerned with.

Don't trust a diesel that doesn't come from Japan, USA, Germany, or Sweden. But if you have the balls to get one get an extended cab Colorado diesel 4x4.

Why diesel? It doesn't pay out. The few mpg is offset by high cost of diesel. Plus maintenance is way more expensive. On top of all of that, you are paying a premium for the truck. It's never worth it. Unless you are towing huge weight. But in that case get a full size

Wait for the Ranger with the 5 cyl diesel. It'll blow the POS 2.8L duracrap and weakling 3.5L Toyota van motor away.

LOL I'm not bitter at all. I just think you need to open your eyes. ;)

Yes, if you choose to waste time looking at MSRP, let's say that's $40k. The one that's $8900 off is $31,100. The one that is $6000 off is $34,000. So yes, $31,100 would be the better deal.

My point is, you should only care about the final price. The MSRP was created to give you the warm fuzzy feeling so you feel like they've taken you out to dinner, stroked your hair, kissed your neck a little bit, shared their popcorn with you, etc... All I'm trying to convince you of is ignoring the $8900 off figure - because it's ficticious. All you should care about is the final price compared to the final price at other dealers. Don't believe you're really saving $8,900. What you're really saving is $2,300. If one dealer is $8,900 less than MSRP and the other is $6,000 less the difference is $2,300. That is what you're saving.

Truthfully I think you should buy the damn truck and get it all over with. LOL

I work for a leasing company and buy cars everyday. I know how to judge a price. If the MSRP on said truck is $44,495, $8900 off is $35,595. $6000 off the same truck at another dealer would be $38495. That's exactly $2900 difference in the two dealerships, and the price will be 2900 difference. Yes, you also need to look at the drive out prices, to make sure the dealership isn't sticking in fees you didn't ask for, like warranties. There are so many options on vehicles, you can't just tell a dealer give me a price on an SLT diesel 4x4 cred cab Canyon. One may have only those options, and another may have those plus $3000 more like sunroof, navigation, etc. You may or may not care about the extra options, but unless you compare the MSRP's you will be comparing apples to oranges. Dealerships like to play games with the MSRP by adding nitrogen, tint, paint sealant and a bunch or bullshit, and try and pass on a higher price as the MSRP, when it's really not. In those cases, you have to look at the MSRP on the window sticker that came from the manufacturer, not some sticker beside it. Tomorrow I'll see if the price they quoted of $35595 ($8900 off list) is a number they will honor, but I promise you, if the MSRP isn't 44495 and the price isn't $35595, I'll be driving my Tacoma back home, shifting in and out of overdrive the whole time, getting worse gas mileage than a Hemi ram.

The problem is how you drive the truck..... And the lift/heavy tires. I got heavier ATs and no air dam and was getting 22 doing 70mph on the highway. I drive it like a paw paw.

Gouge on the gas, drive 75+, and it'll drink gas.
