Man if you need a front locker you are in bad shape. I didn't even bother putting one on my Jeep.

From what I remember, Ducati intentionally made it real hard (borderline impossible) to import a US bike into Canada. Like... they won't give the all-clear recall letter (that's required by RIV) or something like that, as well as punishing dealers who even attempt to sell to Canadians. All in the name of protecting the Canadian dealers.

At least that was the case when I was still involved in riding & the local bike scene.

Surprised I haven't been banned yet. I still like coming to check out this Shi* Show because the Ridgeline forums are so dayum boring. This place is better than the Chive sometimes. Well, except for the hot chicks on the Chive .....

That is because you don't have pics of your Ridgeline. So we don't believe you own one :D

When you think about it, what is "control?" Life is chaos and uncertainty. The forum's just along for the ride, yo.

I'll start off by saying I have no brand loyalty. Have owned cars, trucks, and SUVs from America, Germany, Japan, etc. I like BOTH the Tacoma and the twins (hence while I'm on this forum as much or more than the GM forums). I drove both makes and settled on the GMC. If I off roaded every weekend, the Tacoma would have been the truck hands down. Not because I think it's a way more capable truck, but because the after market support is much better. Stockish these trucks will tackle the same off road duties and have the same or similar capabilities. In the end, I chose the GMC Canyon SLT for the following reasons 1. Employee discount, 2. Fit and finish...the interior seemed much nicer to me in the GMC, and it is one of the main reasons I chose it over the Colorado as well 3. Driving characteristics. It is my daily, and with a $300 tune that I can put on/take off at will it shifts much better than stock and in a different league than the Tacoma (not to mention the additional horse power, pedal response and more linear torque curve I get). Spent 30 minutes taking off the stupid air dam, $50 on a slight leveling kit, and swapped out the stock tires for larger ATs.

I haven't personally driven the diesel, but people I know who have one love it. I love my truck, but think I'd be similarly happy with a Tacoma. I have 25k+ miles and have not had a single issue. There have been a few recalls, but not one of them has affected me. In the end, make the switch if you like the GMC better than what you have.

Looks wise, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Only you can determine if you like the look of the trucks.

There are no stats on the current generations for long term reliability, so that didn't factor into my decision. I laugh at the people who come in here and say "I had a Chevy 20 years ago and it sucked" like that's a 100% valid argument for how long the current trucks will last. From being on both forums equally, the issues actually seem to be pretty even so far.

Resale is another thing...the projected stats so far will put you at about an $800 difference in 3 or 6 years with either truck. So if $800 dollars over 6 years sways you to be in a Tacoma, so be it.

And no, I don't care if I get flamed for posting here and not owning a Tacoma. Just trying to give an honest assessment to help your decision. All forums have their fanboys with blind brand loyalty and feel insulted if you don't praise the vehicle they chose to own. Here's a picture of my truck prior to swapping out the tires and plasti-dipping the chrome part on the front bumper (not a huge fan of too much chrome!):

Check to see if the new Chevy Colorado's have a DEF system and tank (diesel exhaust fluid), as a guy I know just bought a new 2017 2500 diesel Silverado and it has the DEF system on it.

The DEF fluid is 32.5% urea (cow piss) and 67.5% deionized water and is injected into the exhaust gases to help burn off the bad components in the exhaust. On this the guy's new Silverado, he has a separate 5 gal. tank for the DEF, and if the DEF runs out he can only drive about 15 miles in limp mode before the engine shuts off, and it does this no matter how much diesel gas he has in the main tank. He said that the DEF fluid costs around $6 a gal.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is a non-hazardous solution, which is 32.5% urea and 67.5% de-ionized water. DEF is sprayed into the exhaust stream of diesel vehicles to break down dangerous NOx emissions into harmless nitrogen and water.

I had been a GM guy my whole life as my dad was employed at a plant in Detroit. My dad now drives a Kia and I drive a Tacoma.

Google tells me this DEF cow piss is not a joke. So does that mean that diesels have a cow piss reservoir now? How often do you have to fill that up? You can get urea from other sources, too. Why is it cow urea. (I really hope I'm not falling bullshit here...to go with the bull piss).

The new Colorado ZR2 certainly got me thinking about how much I love my 2017. Like others have said, drive it again. See if the dealership will let you take it home for a day or two and see how you like it. I did this with a Ram 1500 before I traded my Jeep and it sold me on that truck at the time. Life is too short to be unhappy with a vehicle you drive so much.

Ridgline...ugly as hell. It is the "mom jeans" of trucks. But Honda is a solid choice. Almost everything they build is stout. Can't go wrong with a Honda...just can't look at it either.

GM's twins might be solid. But I'll never know...can't stand GM. It it weren't for retal fleet sales, police vehicles and carpool suburbans, you wouldn't see them on the road, IMO. I'm a Ford truck guy if i'm buying 'Merican...which I'm not.

I'm a Tacoma fan. It suits my needs. This is my third Taco...2 second gens, and my PRO. I'll never take it rock crawling or 'froadin' in the desert. I tolerate the Entune tech stuff, but don't need it. The payload is never more than firewood, and usually just kids, fishing poles and tackle boxes...nothing those FOX shocks and squeaking leafs can't handle.

Tacos just fit me. I mean...It's 5 AM and I'm on this site, right?!! In a few minutes I'll begin loading it up with stuff for a football tailgate, might bump over a curb at the grocery store...closest I'll get to off-road today.

I've got buddies over-killing it with F-250's, 2500's or the like and they'll never exceed anything my Taco could do. But I applaud them because they're driving what they like. To each their own. Just don't be boring.

    Lost in Montana *recalculating*
    Vehicle:
    2016 Silverado LTZ
    6.2L 8spd stock
Actually it is kinda important. Totally bone stock my truck got at best 18 mpg, but generally 17mpg- and that's not driving hard. That's Montana posted speeds. My average is 16.5mpg, well short of the 21mpg estimates.

For some of us RANGE is a consideration. The places I take my truck don't have a whole lot of gas stations, in fact those places are considered frontier and not even rural so yeah- 4mpg loss x 20 = 80 miles of range GONE. Before I hear a bunch of "Well you can carry extra fuel, blah, blah"- no I won't. I have two hunting dogs and I'm not keeping fuel in the enclosed bed with my dogs kenneled.

So yes- Toyota did screw the pooch on the mpg, and yes- some people do consider it important.

I just got back from bird and mule deer hunting and my friends brand new GMC Sierra crew cab averaged 18 mpg with the v8. We actually drove his rig around when we got to camp because he has better mileage and tank capacity.

Yes- Toyota did indeed f*ck up with this engine and powertrain. It's an underperforming gutless powertrain with a whacked out tranny with the added bonus of shitty mileage. I'll likely sell my Tacoma and have a new truck by spring.
