I agree. I say grab the suspension that will accomplish what you want. To me spacers and body lifts are kind of a cheap trick to get bigger tires and do not add much functionality. The only time I have used a body lift was my Jeep because I did a Tummy Tuck which requires a full lift of the drivetrain, which of course you need to lift the body to do.

Haha! Bro, you obviously haven't done a lot of research, or it isn't sticking. While you can do whatever the hell you want with your truck and your money, I wouldn't recommend doing anything over 2.5" in the front and bigger than a 33" tire. The truck suffers from a lack of torque and requires you to run at higher a RPM to generate power which severely impacts the fuel economy. It all gets worse with bigger tires and more wind resistance.

I'd consider selling you my complete ICON set up(about 5k miles), as I think I'm ready to move on from my Tacoma mistake.

I understand the truck suffers past a 3" or 2.5" lift. I was looking for something more aggressive.

    Good advice.

I think this alone is swaying me towards throwing on 2.5 fox coilovers and leaving it at that. Maybe an aal in the rear.

For what it's worth, the AAl on the soft rear suspension was a waste of money. Take a look into replacing with the Dakar leaf pack, or something similar if you plan on using the truck for towing or putting anything in the bed over 200lbs like a fibeglass cap. Also, the stock leaf springs have a long history of snapping.

RC 4" is quite cheap. Take it and upgrade it with longer FOX coilovers (same price than the normal lenght), you'd get rid of the front spacers, part no. 883-02-044, 883-02-555, BDS 88302048.

You would also gain good CV and tie rod angles and get real space for the bigger tires. With regular coilovers without modifying bump stops = shortening uptravel you have any more space for the tires.

I was talking to someone at a customs shop today that recommended something similar.
I think that extra $1000 for the RC kit is going to take it out of my price range though..

are you going to be wheeling or are you just looking for a mall crawler?

if you go with the Fox just get Dakar leafs. Everyone on here I've talked to said AAL is crap.

Speaking of not doing research or paying attention, taller tires actually give you a taller final gear ratio and Lower your RPMs, not raise them. If you keep the same weight, width, wind resistance, friction etc you'll get better mpg on the highway. Just worse in town since you'll be lugging the engine with your Lower RPMs.

Truth. But if you go the AAL route, get the icon or wheelers progressive 3 leaf. It's not a bad solution for roughly 150-200.

Wheelers is legit, but throw some rubber bicycle tubes between them. Mine squeaked a ton.

I said bigger tires... as in width/ height/ load range(weight). Who runs pizza cutters around here? You forgot to tell me I'd be getting more mileage and speed than what my truck reports as another thing to consider with "taller" tires.

My point to the OP was Gen 3 specific. It's a fickle truck with a lackluster motor/tranny combo; doesn't take much to hurt the performance/ fuel economy.

BTW, how are the pheasants flying in SD this year?

Mall Crawler? No thanks. Wheelin all day everyday!

Just ordered myself the RC 4" lift and going to upgrade to Fox suspension in the coming months. I looked at those part no.'s and I'm not sure which one would be the correct fit?

then why no consideration for long travel? seriously I'd sooner go LT than a 4inch lift.

Maybe 883-02-044 are best, they are for the similar type RCD 4" kit.
Out of stock in many stores, but rcdlift.com has them.
I have not found 883-02-555 dimensions anywhere, even FOX or ReadyLIFT don't know, they said these are available Early 2017. But some stores have these in stock (don't know dimensions either). Weird.
883-02-048 are built for BDS 6" lift, they are 0.6" longer extended, 1" longer compressed than -044.
You'll get 50% more travel (shock travel 6.32") than stock with those first FOXs (= could we say mid-travel?), tires keep under the fenders, a lot less of modifications while maintaining OEM suspension geometry. And also OEM drive shafts/steering rod ends are still at place.

Good choise/starting point, you can always upgrade it.

I agree with that. I love the fox kit.
my cousin has it in his FJ and its great, I'm planning on getting it for my tacoma as well.
If he's actually wheeling not sure why he isn't looking into it more.
