I'm sleeping in tomorrow - which really only means 7:00am (I'm normally up just before 5:00am). Dogs will wake me wanting to go out.

Coffee maker is loaded and timer is set.

They're actually landscaping blocks. They have an angle cut into each side. To make a straight line you alternate them when you lay them down. To make a curve or a circle you lay them the same way. Make sence?

Do you use that special caulking to adhere them to prevent sliding?

You can. I did not. You can buy a steel ring that fits down into it too...that can help to secure them. But honestly...they're pretty heavy and have not moved at all.

There are several different types of angled landscape stones. I recommend the Flagstone. They have a more rustic look to them. Plus you can make tighter circles with them. 12 of them will net you a ring with a 35" to 36" ID. You can make it as tall as you want....usually 3 to 4 rings high.

    Great info, thanks again.

Need to find a place in the big back yard where dogs won't crash into it when they're running around.

A wise man once told me.....

No problem. You can build it right on the ground if you want. I chose to build a 4x4' base under mine....but totally not necessary. Lowes even sells a kit with the Flagstones and retention ring for about $200. I saved a few bucks on the actual stones by purchasing them individually. Kit seemed a little spendy for what you get.

I may check a local concrete/stone product place right down the road tomorrow. Maybe they'll have something I could cobble together.

    Could built next year.

That's basically what I did. I just ala cart'd all the pieces from Lowes.

If you decide not to use a metal bowl...be sure to use either a few inches of lava rock or sand. Lava rock breaths better. Don't use gravel or pebbles. They can heat up and explode. Nothing like little popcorn rocks flying at you. o_O

Some good vids on YouTube.
