    We had a 2005 Outback 2.5XT. Turbo engine was fun to drive when it got on the boost. Ate front wheel bearings like popcorn. Too many trips to the dealer for that, had to go.

    i know a guy on his 2nd imprezza wagon, put 250k on the first one (and 2 head gaskets) and is close to 250k on the 2nd one (and its 2nd set of head gaskets). he still likes it as an eminently practical car, he's always packing it with a full load of astronomy gear, or ham radio gear or what all. If you don't drive like a loon those front wheel bearings last a lot longer.
